Each application has specific amount of memory set aside on the ROM. If an application begins to come close to this limit you will start to see the low memory warning.

To permanently resolve this issue, move apps to the SD Card instead of phone. The key is how to do it without using apps such as Apps2SD which require rooting your Android phone. You do not want to potentially void the warranty on your phone now. Found this detailed article on how to do this.

I have the mytouch 3g..ok phone but wth is up with this storage space?? Is there any way someone can get extra storage space without switching phones or purchasing some crazy expensive item etc. i would love to know b/c this is horrible! Thanks!

the way I’ve found to save space is to use a 3rd party storage for your other stuff. androidstorage.com lets you upload your songs, etc to a server and then you can stream them to your phone. that way i’ve got more room for my apps

I always complain about “Not enough space” when uninstalling apps. I figured that Google would soon realize that a lot people find this a gripe. Hopefully, everybody does this because it seems that’s one of the few ways Google is actually listening to us.

i definitely agree, you can’t really do much if there not enough STORAGE SPACE to hold it and it not much to begin with. I’m pretty much limited, the STORAGE SUCK!!!!! YOU SHOULD LOOK IN TO THAT….THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks a bunch for the tip, I recently purchased a 8gig Memory card by sandisk from staples for 30 bucks and it screwed up after 2 weeks. I am pretty carefull about mounting and unmounting the card, but i guess thats where the classes of the card go into play. I paid 30 bucks for an 8 gig card i figured i got what I paid for.

From what I have read, you only want to move apps to your SD card if you have a class6 version. My current 8gb is only class4 and I read it will affect performance.

I agree that the space sucks, but although i did gain root access I am a little skeptical about moving apps to the SD card because of problems people have had with it in the past. I may just wait till google decides to impliment this in to the G1.

This is actually my biggest gripe about the G1 – after the poor battery life – is the minuscule internal storage size.

It makes no sense for it to be that low in comparison to other devices out there, especially with the near difficulty of storing apps on the SD card.
