Anyone who has followed Android and Me for some time recognizes we are not your average Android site. Since we first launched several months ago, we have developed a loyal following. However, I am far from satisfied with our progress. Updates have been sporadic and I have been unable to follow through on a lot of the promises I made to you guys.
The main roadblock in my way has been time. This site was started as a hobby while I was working a full time job that required me to be on call seven days a week. Starting next month, everything is going to change. I have resigned from my day job so that I can enjoy some quality Funemployment. Beginning June 22nd, we will resume daily updates and begin to offer a lot of the content you have been asking for.
Frequent updates are only a small part of our roadmap to version 2.0 of the site. We have listened to your feedback and will begin making many changes to the site. Currently, we have the following items on our to-do list:
- New Desktop Site
- New Mobile Site
- More Contests
- More apps from Android and Me Labs
- Forums
- Weekly Podcast
Our new desktop site will be centered around great original content, but we will also highlight more items from around the Android community. I plan to feature news from AndroidGuys.com and Phandroid.com, reviews from AndroidTapp.com, and resources from Android-DLs.com. We share a common goal of growing the Android community and pushing the Android platform to new heights. If you have yet to visit any of these sites, check them out and subscribe to their feeds.
If you would like to help us out, take a second to vote in the poll below. We plan to bring you all of the following items, but you can help influence the level of importance we place on each one. If you have other suggestions, please leave a comment.

If you can do what you love and make money at it, you’re doubly blessed. I can’t wait to see what all’s in store for the site and your overall presence. I know good things are coming!
Do you plan to tap into the news and info from Android Community, too? They’re a great resource as well as those you listed.

Many questions do not get answered: eg gallery wants to look thru the SD folders for pics so using the SD as a USB drive slows down the Gallery. Is there a way around this?
The Gallery should more than slow down, it should stop. The Gallery cannot access the SD card while it is being used as USB Storage. This is because the SD card is unmounted from the phone and remounted to the PC. There is no way around this.
That being said, I’m looking forward to the great things that you guys will do with the site. Good luck with your (f)unemployment, hope to hear all about it.
