Yes, Donot/Android 1.6 should be available as an over the air update for the G1. This has not been confirmed, but we have good reason to believe it will happen.

Just curious will donut be a OTA for G1 users? Or will we be left out in the cold?

Even if the rumor is true that is will be named Tao I will probably still refer to it as the Sholes. It sounds more educated.

BTW, Tao means “The Way” in Chinese. Good to see Moto is thinking about their names on the devices they make in reference to their strive forward in their smart phone line-up.

I like Tao. It actually assumes that people are smart enough to pronounce it (which most companies wouldn’t do), and it’s a very simple name. Simple is better.

Also, doesn’t it mean “the way” or something like that, so isn’t it fair to assume that Motorola’s trying to get us to follow “the way” or direction that they’re heading in?
