There was some initial confusion surrounding the launch date of the T-Mobile Motorola Cliq, but now all sources are predicting a November kick off. According to internal T-Mobile training material, the Motorola Cliq will go on pre-sale October 19, 2009 and is expected to be in stores by November 11, 2009. This is a little later than we were hoping for, but Android fans will finally be able to purchase a new phone with a full QWERTY keyboard.
The exact retail pricing of the Cliq remains the big mystery. Early reports have placed Motorola’s first Android phone anywhere from $199 down to free. It was widely expected this would be a budget phone from the beginning, so I would be surprised if it ends up at $199. The Cliq features the same 528 MHz processor as the first two Android phones from T-Mobile, but it offers some advantages like more memory and a higher megapixel camera. With second generation Android phones scheduled to launch later this year, the Cliq will need to be priced aggressively to compete.
