Motorola Droid box revealed

We have seen some pretty interesting packaging on recent Android phones like the myTouch 3G bundle. One might expect the first Motorola Droid would feature some extravagant box to match the huge marketing campaign behind it. The guys over at Engadget claim to have a stack of Droids and they snapped a few photos of the official encasing.

The box is nothing too exciting, but I guess it’s what inside the box that counts.

As much as I hate Verizon. I have to acknowledge this great phone.

But this is some ugly-ass packaging – what were Motorola thinking?

Even if the hardware rocks, how will this look on the shelf next door to Apple’s glamorous boxes?

I do think it would have looked good if they simply had an all black box with JUST the droid eye on it. Maybe a little bit of shiny reflecting material on it too. Shiny = good.

Yeah, nothing too exciting… with all these phones coming out, I’m waiting until after the new year before buying anything to do with Android. I’m curious to what devices Clark and others are planning to buy? :)

I am waiting for snapdragon phones that are true 1ghz or more. The droid looks nice but I want faster and more storage for apps without root. Even though mine is rooted.

Maybe I’m weird, but I’d just as soon my phone showed up in a plain brown box, like Amazon’s frustration-free packaging, which I use as often as possible.

Save the fancy packaging for the in-store displays. The real magic doesn’t happen when you open the box; it happens when you turn the phone on.
