Confused by all the Android phone names? We are hard at work on an organized phone database, but we are not quite ready to take the cover off that.
Verizon has added to the name clutter by deciding to launch a repackaged HTC Hero (codenamed HTC Desire) that they are calling the Droid Eris.
Engadget is reporting that Verizon will use the “Droid” name for a series of Android phones. The first two phones (Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris) are expected to be available on the same day November 6, 2009.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt was pictured holding the HTC phone at the Verizon Android press event and BGR also has a picture of the phone in the wild.
Pricing is still unavailable for the HTC Droid Eris and Motorola Droid, but we expect Eris will be the cheaper of the two.

the extension of the phone, where the trackball, call, and end key are is absolutely ugly.
I agree. It’s weird looking at the bottom, to me it looks like it slightly curves outward or something like that, idk but it’s unattractive.
Will the HTC Desire have the exact same innards as the Hero, G1 and other 1st gen. Android phones? I was under the impression that they were quite slow and the next gen. of hardware was in need of a speed boost.
