DirectTV NFL SuperFan now available for Android

Im so jealous of Direct TV customers right now because they just got access to NFL SuperFan for Android. The new application from DirectTV allows customers (with NFL Sunday Ticket and the NFL SuperFan addon) to watch live games on their phone. So far, they have tested the service on the Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris, HTC G1 & HTC MyTouch 3G.

It appears you need a DirectTV subscription and NFL Sunday Ticket ($199.00), which I have neither. It would be super awesome if DirectTV were to offer a mobile only subscription for NFL SuperFan because I would definitely pay for that.

SUPERCAST features:

  • Live Streaming Video: Enjoy every NFL SUNDAY TICKETSâ„¢ game, plus the Red Zone Channel. You can switch from game to game at any time.
  • Highlights: Relive the big moments. See up to 12 significant plays from every game, either individually or consecutively.
  • Scores & Game Status: See scores and game status for the current week”s completed and in-progress games. Check the schedule for the upcoming games.
  • Instant Stats: An indispensable feature for fantasy footballers. Track your favorite players” performance with a touch. Get game and player stats instantly for each game.

I was able to find a quick video demo of the iPhone version.

If you have DirectTV and an Android phone, please let us know how the application performs come this Sunday.

ps. I will love you forever DirectTV if I could get a temp account to try this service out!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… If I paid $200 to watch football on Sundays, you bet you ass I’d be AT HOME watching it… not on my phone watching it. Just saying…

I have the NFL Sunday Ticket plan ($199.00). But, you have to purchase the SuperFan package ($69.00) also to be able to watch the live streaming video. I just tried it. Since I had to promise the wife a shopping trip to allow me to get the plan in the first place, I don’t want to push my luck. And yes I am at home every Sunday watching the games, but sometimes I have to leave and go get more snacks for my friends. This app would have been great, if I had access to the live videos. :(

Cant get this to forward UDP when i use WiFi. Anyone know what the UDP range might be so that i can setup my firewall?

Not able to see highlights, thinks UDP ports are blocked on Wi Fi connection and that I should be on 3G. However I am connected via 3G, also can watch live feed no problem. Using Mot Droid. Is there a fix for this?

[...] Check out the free demo and let us know how it performs. I think the $19 price tag is pretty reasonable if you are a hardcore NBA fan that is away from the TV. We hope DirectTV is taking notes and will offer similar mobile purchase options for their NFL Sunday Ticket app. [...]
