I don’t think chrome is going anywhere if an android phone is more capable than a chrome netbook

This seems perfect for netbooks seeing as they’re not really good for anything else anyways, obviously it wouldn’t be the main OS on more powerful pcs but i’m thinking of a separate power button to boot into chrome OS so you can get on the web quickly and enjoy the security and presumably low power consumption benefits

The key to making this accepted I think is to find a way to make web apps more feel like regular apps, the app tabs and chrome menu are a nice touch but perhaps it could also have some kind of web app directory? the notifications are nice too

i love the idea and concept, and would love it as a 2nd option for a os on my netbook, it seems to me battery life would be a big increase as less things running and less system stress…. and then i can use my linux build for the rest of whatever i need… i played with it in a virtual machine, i like it

I agree with you here. I love the idea behind Chrome OS, but it has some shortfalls. One is that, without an Internet connection, your netbook is effectively useless, since nothing is stored on it. Though the major shortfall is the lack of powerful web apps. Without an image editing program and a decent coding environment, I can’t do my work, and that’s the one reason why I would want a netbook; to quickly do work when I’m not at my computer.

I sure hope it’s a very early concept video – because if that’s it, it’s gonna suck. I hope it’s waaaaay off in the future.

I like how Android behaves on my cell. And it’s a much cooler name than “chrome” too. ;)

Google has had for quite some time job postings for Android User Experience positions… I’d assume that includes GUI designers… Seems they have no takers.

Hopefully this means that Android will get a new GUI designer.

For some people, Chrome OS will be great. For me.. It’s not going to cut it.
