First pictures of the Motorola Sholes Tablet

The Motorola Sholes (aka VZW Droid) was the most leaked phone in history and it appears the Sholes Tablet might follow in those footsteps. We have already seen the Sholes Tablet appear in the leaked Motorola roadmap with a planned release of Q1 2010.

The device is essentially a cousin of the Motorola Droid without the physical keyboard and some updated specs. The Sholes Tablet is said to feature an 8MP camera (vs 5MP on the Droid), include a xenon flash (vs dual LED), and include a mini HDMI port for full 720p video output.

Known specs include:

  • 550MHz OMAP TI 3430 processor
  • 3.7″ touch screen with 800 x 480 resolution
  • HDMI port (720p video output)
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • UMTS/HSPA
  • 8 megapixel camera with a xenon flash
  • 802.11 b/g with DLNA
  • Android 2.x

According to our sources, the Sholes Tablet is headed to T-Mobile and will likely include Motorola’s custom flavor of Android dubbed Motoblur.

wait, still only a 550mhz proc? its related to the droid and it still has a crappy proc, come on……

on top of that i would rather tmobile put out updates to their existing android devices instead of just trying to make new ones. i really hope they just dont decide to release a new phone instead of updating their old ones…..

that being said i was really hoping for better pictures. its like advertising nude pictures of some celebrity and then only having pictures of her feet or elbows.

The processor is an OMAP3430. That is completely different from the Qualcomm CPUs found in first gen Android phones. Motorola claims that the Droid offers up to 2x the performance of earlier Android devices.

Unfortunately people are still stuck on mhz vs mhz instead of brand vs brand or manufacturer vs manufacturer.

wait, is it the same proc as in the droid? if so than im sure it will be good. ive played with a few droids and they are great.

you guys may think i and others are dumb for looking at the raw mhz, but they do equate to something, they arent entirely meaningless.

on a side note i think they purposely put a crappy keyboard in the droid. having no physical keyboard is a better formfactor. i love my keyboard in the G1 but it just seems like so much wasted space most of the time. im prolly going to wait til next summer to upgrade. hope this still pushes the envelope.

Please for the love of god, do not put Motoblur on this motorola…

    • http://androidandme.com Taylor Wimberly

Motoblur is going to be on most (if not all) of the upcoming Android phones from Motorola.

Yea, I know… It is not that I don’t like motoblur, I just like stock android better.

Had better be Blur 2.1, if it’s still 1.5, it’ll sell as badly as the Cliq

It Says right in the specs, Android 2.X.

Moto really wants merge from dust, competition is good.

@ marty…the droid has a 550. I agree, not leaps or bounds better than the 528 that we have on tmo now, but still something
