MIcrosoft having QR-reading technology is one thing, but Google taking the further step of distributing QR-bar code decals to local businesses is really a different thing. Google is trying to brand its local search around local places, whereas MIcrosoft Tag is just code reading technology. I don’t think anyone is claiming that Google has invented the best bar code reader ever.

I reckon a real area for underground marketing is in QR codes. I’ve been meaning to bang stuff up on my local tram stops so people can quickly scan for the next tram times.
