Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all. But think of if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this blog could definitely be one of the most beneficial in its niche. Fantastic blog!

Does anyone really care about these custom UIs from handset makers? I wish we could have a cleaner separation between hardware makers and software makers. Let them battle it out separately, on the cell phone carriers and in the Android Market respectively.

We’d get more innovation and more consumer choice, and the Android porting hassles for handset makers would largely end.

Mixing the two like this just makes the whole experience annoying.

The Timescape thing seemed a bit sluggish. Is it just me or is anyone else not a fan of the custom UI in general? I mean the Sense UI, the Moto Blur, whatever the hell is on the Behold II… I don’t know, I just think these phones would be better with good old stock vanilla Android, but maybe it’s just me.

Man between this and the Nexus One, I can’t decide which phone I want more.

The Xperia seems to have an advantage in pretty much all regards (bigger screen, more ROM) and of course the UI looks much nicer than standard Android.

But I have two big issues with it. How good will SE be about upgrading the UI to the latest Android versions. If they are gonna be slow as hell like HTC and Motorola, then whats the point. And the other question being the price. With the top of the line hardware and the usual SE brand name tax, I can see this phone easily being $800-1000 unlocked.

Coincidence? Yes. Ironic? Not really. But it still looks like a great interface, and the keyboard looks…suspiciously like a strange cross between the default Android keyboard and the HTC keyboard. Anyone else agree?

Surprised that Sony Ericsson named their custom UI Nexus? Nope. At first Sony was calling their UI Rachael and Nexus is actually not far off since both come from “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”/”Bladerunner”. Nexus is the Android line that the Tyrell company created and Rachael is one of the few advanced Nexus-Six models. So it is no surprise that both Google and Sony would pay tribute to this book/movie
