Additional details about HTC’s 2010 roadmap are beginning to leak. Ar.is blog has posted a high resolution render and updated specs of the HTC Legend.
Like the HTC Bravo, the Legend features an AMOLED display and “optical mouse”. These are two new features we have yet to see on any HTC Android phones.
The Legend will be marketed under HTC’s Lifestyle category and may end up being a budget phone. Powering the Legend will be a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. The new CPU is slightly faster (600 MHz vs 528 MHz) than most Android phones, but it will actually cost less.
Qualcomm’s MSM7227 was designed for sub-$150 smartphones and features a smaller footprint and lower power consumption than previous models. The new MSM7227 is nearly identical to older MSM7xxx-series chips, so manufacturers can easily transition to it.
We have yet to see any United States 3G bands listed for the Legend, but that doesn’t mean it will not find its way to a carrier. T-Mobile UK is a likely target, but I know T-Mobile USA would love to have an Android 2.0 phone to keep their myTouch brand alive.
Finally, Ar.is reports that the Legend should debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress and hit stores as early as March 2010. Could this be the rumored successor to the HTC Hero that was also rumored to appear at Mobile World Congress?
The updated specs for the HTC Legend include:

- Networks – WCDMA/HSPA: 900/2100 MHz; GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
- OS – Android 2.x
- Display – 3.2 inch HVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
- Camera – 5 megapixel with auto focus, LED flash
- Internal memory – 512 MB flash ROM, 256 MB RAM
- Chipset – Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz
- Battery – 1300 mAh
- Also – microSD, WLAN, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, GPS/AGPS, G-sensor, digital compass, FM radio, optical mouse, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB, Footprints II, People II

I would love to have this phone. since i’m a student, i can’t get expensive phones. hope this comes to t-mobile u.s.a at the right time for my upgrade offer.

Shouldn’t it be a WVGA instead of HVGA?
Faster processor is nice but we really need to start seeing is much much larger system ROM and RAM. I still can not understand why memory is so skimpy on android phones.
Unfortunately the MSM72xxx family does not have any OpenGL acceleration, which means there will be no visually appealing games. While I understand the reason (keeping the price low) I’m sure there will be many disappointed users.
While I like HTC products (most stable and solid Android handsets to date) I think that they are taking a wrong direction here.
Ah I did not notice that. This is similar to the CPU of the HTC Tattoo I see.
Or any version of the Hero, and I even think the Behold II.
