Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but for anyone reading this, it’s an incredibly GOOD thing to have multiple app stores. Here’s why:

If there is no competition, Google or Motorola or whoever can keep whatever percentage of developers’ income they want, because the developers would have nowhere else to go. The developers will then likely pass that cost on to the users. Thus, having only one marketplace is a lose-lose situation for developers and users alike.

Plus, there’s little difference between this and physical storefronts like grocery stores. If one store irks me in some way, maybe by being too expensive, or having a low selection, or poor customer service, I want to be able to take my business elsewhere.

Competition is good!! Encourage it!
