Update (01/26): Walmart has issued a response to this article.
I predicted Walmart would sell the “Google Phone” back in October and it appears to have come true. We just spotted a Google Nexus One holding page over on the Walmart Wireless site. I’m not that surprised Walmart is planning to sell the Nexus One since they have carried almost everyone Android phone to date, but we found some interesting information buried in the the specs.
Under network technology, we see that the phone supports both 1xEvDO (Sprint and Verizon 3G) and UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900 (AT&T 3G). Google previously stated the Nexus One would be coming to Verizon, but this is the first time we have seen AT&T 3G bands supported.
Now on to the juicy rumor that is almost too good to be true. A small time blog Phone Inferno is claiming that Walmart could offer the Nexus One for as low as $99 with a 2yr agreement. This is cheaper than the $179 subsidized price with a T-Mobile contract, but Walmart might have used their pull to negotiate a special deal with Google.
I’m having a real hard time swallowing the $99 price, but I guess anything is possible. We know AT&T is going to launch five Android devices and I guess we can now count the Nexus One as one of those.
Believable? What do you guys think?

I certainly hope this is true! Could just be some form of typo, but I’m hopeful for a decent AT&T Android phone.
Seriously. This makes a lot of sense. Well, kind of. LOL
Remember that rumor a few weeks back talking about how Wal-Mart was gonna team up with Google???
WELL, HERE WE GO! Hahahaha…
This is pretty great news! Now the whole world will have an Android device!
I’m already making my shopping list!!!!!
-Wranglers $24.99
-Dorritos $2.49
-Nexus One $99.99
-Panty Hose (don’t ask) $4.99
And just take another Palm Pre for 0 $ on a 3-year contract with you…
This is just a screw up on the placeholder page. If you paid more attention to detail you’d have noticed that the ONLY data services listed were tri-band UMTS/HSPA?
So you have voice only-service on CDMA? That makes a lot of sense on an Android handset….
Also notice on the same page it says that any form of Int’l usage is NOT supported, which we all know isn’t correct either.
I’m thinking I should hold off on a hero
Wow, if this is true, I’m glad I waited.
But would I be required to change my current plan? I wonder how if any, this changes the price Google is asking or as more devices surface, I tend to believe the prices will continue to fall. What do you think?

I guess someone at walmart needs a cup of coffee so they can stop making mistakes like this. just look at the international features on the page.
but I WISH, PRAY, HOPE this is not a mistake and is true. i want nexus one with AT&T 3G
agreed. Have you seen the grammar and usage errors throughout the main description alone? Hopefully that’s just because it’s WalMart and they can’t afford a copyeditor, because I WANT this phone on verizon!
This has BS written all over it, aside from the fact they specifically said it wasn’t coming to sprint, but it is coming to verizon at the launch. Nice try walmart.
This will be terrific news.
$99 for a Nexus One seems too good to be true but if it really is true then I’ll be getting one asap because that price is ridiculous lol
To me, what’s really important is 3G compatibility with all major US carriers. I’d rather buy such a phone for full price if it is sold without carrier’s plan (and better – unlocked and routed, although unlocking and routing Nexus One was said to be easy.)
So Wal-Mart wireless is run by Letstalk.com?
..I hope this is true! I’m on tmo right now. Wouldn’t mind going to Verizon!
I’m glad to see this if its true, reason being my tmo contract its up in sept and I think this is a great tool for me to use to get my price lowered. Now I did read today on tmonews that tmo will change their full upgrade timeline to a shorter window. If I read this properly this is great news, because I truely believe that loyal customer are punished when they are forced to wait so long to get the newest phones. I got the g1 the day it was released and have been forced watch so many phones pass me by.
It’s already been proven a fake and Walmart has issued a statement
http://droidtalk.net/walmart-issues-statement-will-not-carry-the-nexus-one/
It kinda makes sense that AT&T is losing the iphone and now will support the great Nexus One on their network. good timing?
SMH. AT&T WILL NOT CARRY NEXUS ONE JUS TMOBILE N VERZION(LATE SPRING 2010) N FOR U SPRINT PEEPS ITS STILL UP IN THE AIR. IF U BUY THIS PHONE UNLOCKED FOR AT&T U CAN NOT USE THE 3G ONLY EDGE.
It is not! I have been all over this before N1 was launched. Wally-world will not carry NEVER! I am a T-Mobile dealer for Wal-mart. but at this point nothing!
