Been using the droid 1 for over a year, I used to be a computer tech guy, now a truck driver, I have wanted to root this thing for a year but I waited until the warranty was up and went wild with it the last week. Mine is overclocked using chevy1 rom and cpu set at 1.25ghz, rock solid!
This phone is faster then my dual core laptop now when browsing the web. even the flash videos is faster then it pops up on my laptop.I have only modded my phone for a week so im not sure about long term but i use it when im driving to stream talk shows off i heart radio and the other radio app. never had it crash on me in a week yet.

The stock clocking is an optimal choice for most applications. The video are played quite smooth too. Consider that overclocked core drains the battery faster, and really overclocked (> 800MHz in this case) can shorten the lifetime of the system. Don't want to be a smart ..., but no need to overclock it if you don't really need it.

The only reason I have a bit of regret over my Droid purchase is that it seems there aren't as many developers working on ROMs. I loved running Cyanogen's ROMs on my G1, and I'm going to miss his work.
