Well that didn’t take long. Earlier this week we saw the announcement of the HTC Desire and now a hacked ROM has appeared online. Paul from MoDaCo has uploaded what he calls an alpha leak of the HTC Desire software. As many of you know the Desire features almost identical hardware to the Nexus One, but it comes loaded with HTC’s Sense UI instead of stock Android.
Since the phones are so similar, it is easy to swap out the ROMs and bring the Sense UI to the Nexus One. As noted, “this isn’t even beta so there’s a good chance you won’t want to use this as your main ROM”, but it is still cool to see what is coming next from HTC.
Our friend Csewell has already flashed the Sense UI ROM onto his Nexus One and captured it on video so you can check out the hack without messing up your phone.
It definitely looks slick, but I’ll take plain old vanilla Android every time.

I’ve been playing with the alphas that Paul at modaco’s been dropping. I just installed 7, but 5 was running more than stable enough for me to use as my daily rom. Fast and beautiful!
really?
did most of the graphical hiccups get fixed?
The only reason why i preffer senseUI is for the music player. you can change songs from the lock screen, thats something i miss on the android.
looks cool and all but is really worth it?
1, awesome
2, Dear HTC/Android people. Too many models. Pick 1 or 2, focus, make them awesome. Next model. You are watering it all down yo!

Can this rom be ported to the droid soon?
I don’t really care for vanilla Android very much… Needs more kick.
Like neopolitan, super chunky, cookie dough, fudge brownie, Ben and Jerry’s-ish Sense UI =p
