Hands on with the cutest Android phone (Xperia X10 Mini)

Call me crazy, but I think the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro could be the coolest pair of Android phones announced at MWC. The specs are nothing mind blowing, but I think a lot of people could be won over by its compact design.

The X10 Mini measures just 3.3 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches and weighs in at 3.1 oz. The display is only 2.5 inches (QVGA), but Sony Ericsson has built a mini UI to make navigating easier.

Even though it has a small size, the X10 Mini will still pack a punch. Powering the X10 Mini will be the 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227, which is the same CPU seen in the HTC Legend and Garmin nuvifone A50.

Once again, our friends from and.roid.es went hands on with the pair of devices and shared a video with us.

No price point has been announced, but expect to see the X10 Mini on select carriers starting Q2 2010.

T-Mobile USA has a recent history with Sony Ericsson (they launched the non-Android Equinox) so maybe they would consider picking up the device. It might not appeal to the same crowd that buys high-end phones like the Nexus One, but it could definitely carve out a crowd with the younger market (or female) if they price it right.

One thing is for sure…I want to play with one.

Agreed that there’s definitely a market out there for this phone. I’ve got a couple of friends who are interested in finally taking the plunge with a smartphone but haven’t been impressed by any of the options so far, and all of them were hugely positive about the look of this phone. If SE can resist the urge to price themselves out of the entry level market they could be on to a real winner.
