Motorola Devour hitting Verizon stores soon

We just revealed the Motorola Devour specs and now Android Central has received some pics of Verizon promotional material. It was first speculated that this Devour box was the retail packaging, but several comments have explained this is an oversized demo box that Verizon uses to promote the phone. If the retails stores are already receiving promotional material, then a launch can’t be far behind.

No price point has been announced, but with its Qualcomm MSM7627 processor and 3 megapixel camera, we expect this to be an entry level Android phone. The Devour should be available in black and silver. We have also unofficially confirmed this device should run Android 1.6 with Motoblur, but it should be updated to Android 2.1 in Q2 2010.

Look for Motorola to unveil the Devour during their Super Bowl ad (2/7) or possibly during Mobile World Congress (2/15).

A recap of the rumored Devour specs:

  • 3.1 inch capacitive display HVGA (480×320)
  • 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7627
  • 512 MB flash ROM, 256 MB RAM
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • 1420 mAh battery
  • Android 1.6 with Motoblur
  • Others: Optical joystick, 3.5mm headset jack, GPS, Wi-Fi, microSD card slot

I don’t think it looks horrible in black, it just looks cheap.

With so much room on the top slider I am surprised they didn’t put a bigger screen. Then again if they are aiming for the low-end price tag to match the looks, I can understand.

I’m looking forward to checking out the keyboard in person.

I doubt I’d buy this phone, as I’d rather spend my $ on a top of the line item with the fastest processor and biggest screen, but I like the way that keyboard appears. It seems tough and clicky like the Sidekick keyboards.

I’m still wanting a SideKick with Android, basically :)

Big screen, fast sidekick w Android and i’m sold.

I agree. Motorola should really hire a couple of designers to work alongside their engineers.
