Hands on the Archos 7 Android tablet

Archos announced a pair of Android tablets this week that are both expected to retail for around $200. They were able to achieve the low price by using a lesser powered ARM9 Rockchip 2808 processor. The Archos 7 is a 7-inch tablet and the Archos 8 is an 8-inch picture frame.

Archos 7 highlights include:

  • 7″ WVGA 800×480 touchscreen
  • 600MHz ARM9 Rockchip 2808 CPU
  • 128MB RAM
  • 2GB or 8GB
  • Android 1.5 OS
  • 802.11b/g WiFi
  • USB port, microSD support, built-in speakers
