HootSuite: “The professional Twitter client” now on Android

“The professional Twitter client” is now available on Android. HootSuite was just released to the Android Market in two versions – a full client for only $1.99 and a lite version for free. The full featured client has support for unlimited Twitter accounts plus on-board, click-through statistics tracking (using Ow.ly), while the free version is limited to three accounts.

HootSuite is currently only available for devices with Android 1.6 and above, but a version for Android 1.5 is being worked on.

Highlights of the HootSuite features include:

  • Managing multiple identities and accounts
  • Creating custom views for tags and searches
  • Understanding reasons for trending topics
  • Scheduling messages for the future
  • Adding followers to lists and accounts
  • Sharing photos and shortening URLs
  • Plus HootSuite Android version includes a few new tricks including background notifications so messages keep on coming even when you’re browsing elsewhere.

Was really excited for this until I read that it doesn’t support 1.5…. Come on with the update already Sprint. My Hero isn’t even 6 months old and I already can’t run the latest apps.

I wonder if the dev on Swift, the first android twitter client to have the in client browser, will stay up now that the guy who developed it is at HootSuite?!

tweetcaster is better anyways, make sure u download the the free key also. I think people have issues trying to download it, but keep trying, its worth the effort to get it. Im very satisfied with it.

Tweetcaster is one of my least favorite Twitter apps on Android. And I don’t understand the key thing. An ugly app that’s purposefully complex? No thanks!

I completely agree. Tweetcaster tried to build the hype but ended up being a complete fail.

    I’ll stick with my Twidroid.

Yeah, Joseph said it right.. this application is written FOR the iPhone it seems. iPhone navigation style, the whole way you get around the application is very iPhone-related. I think the devs forgot to use the Menu button on Android.

Disappointing application. I think Seesmic is still reigning supreme.

Nice video – shame it didn’t actually tell us anything at all about the app.

No 1.5 version? Guess I’ll stick with Twidroid for now then.

I’m using HootSuite as my desktop client so the android app comes as a natural choice.

FYI, HootSuite for Android 1.5 is now available (as of March 6). Just check your Market and you should see it.

I travel the world bumbling my way around and do some business every now and then.

OK. I’m at GDC, San Francisco, at the moment and have been struggling with Twitter all day. Sitting at a bar, I was whinging to a random person who showed me his iPhone App. Jealousy evaporated when I learnt it was on Android as well.

Fantastic apps and I am falling in love with it already. All the other clients have been uninstalled.

    !0:10 for this product guys.

Worth whatever the price. Let alone at the special offer price at the moment.
