I wouldn’t call this a superphone. It doesn’t look like a mind-numbingly pointless and contrived neologism to me.

It does, however, look like a very, very nice phone.

    • http://Website corrie

If i’m not mistaken, this is currently the fastest phone currently unveiled for now (basing on the specs) also in terms of WiMaX speed (4G) But apple has not yet release their big gun (iPhone 4G) yet, until summer. Same time, as the HTC Evo will be released. So I guess, its a bit early to tell which is which.

On a sidenote, I must say we’re impressed with this phone and this is way much better than the impressions about the HTC Supersonic.

I’m guessing this will set the standard for every smartphone, on 2010 and onwards. ( that it should be 4g ready and has 8MP cam!)

    • http://Website Daniel

Agreed. Can’t we put this stupid term to rest already?

The Nexus One better change its name to Nexus Has Been or Nexus Lose.

This is the true superphone. Look at the specs!!! and you get htc sense PLUS STOCK ANDROID 2.1.

Just so that people won’t pick on the lack of 3D gallery, you can just push the 3D gallery from the Nexus LOSE into this phone and it will work.

TOO BAD this is for Sprint and I’m on T-Mobile. I am still crossing my fingers for the Desire to come to T-Mobile.

    • http://Website Usman

Awww… sounds like someone is angwy that they couldn’t get theiw wittle hands on theiw own Nexus One.

      • http://Website Joel

Nexus one is coming to Sprint

    • http://www.androidui.net ExtremeT

Just to clear things up, it’s Android 2.1 with Sense UI, not Android 2.1 stock and Sense UI

    • http://Website Sven

rofl! and when the next version of Android has been pushed out by the time this thing launches, and everyone complains why their new Sense phone won’t be updated to the same version of the “boring” Nexus One, I’ll be rofling. I’ll also be rofling when I sell my contract-free Nexus One for whatever phone comes out during the holiday season. rofl!

  • http://Website zetec

HOLY SHIT. That’s a fucking awesome phone.

  • http://Website Ben Tolmachoff

I wonder how AT&T is going to try and downplay this, because, ya know, they have the best 3G network, AND the nations #1 smartphone…

    Ba dum tssh!

  • http://www.google.com/profiles/anakin78z anakin78z

    Daaaaamn. That is nice.
So happy that phones are finally adding front facing cameras. I’m sure that skype or fring will update to support that in no time.
Hot damn this thing looks good.

  • http://Website TechnoFreak

Is that a phone or a digital photo frame? I remember holding a blackberry up to talk the first time and it felt awkward. Holding that up to your head is going to look really dumb and nerdy.

    • http://danglinginvective.blogspot.com Mark

Hell, if you’re worried about it that much, use a head set…

As for me, talking is one of the last things I use my phone for…

    • http://Website Jon

You should look at the photos on Engadget.com . It’s about the same width and thickness as an iPhone and just a bit taller.

      • http://Website TechnoFreak

Maybe its just me but it looks like a slice of bread. I would watch a movie on that, browse the web a little, maybe even email/text, but talking on a piece of toast? It’s just too wide.

  • http://Website Modern

Wow!!!! My next phone. I can’t wait.

  • http://www.androidui.net ExtremeT

I gotta agree, that’s a hell of a phone. I do wish that was coming to T-mobile cause that would definitely be purchased in the very near immediate future..hell I might anyways

Great phone… it won’t even reach Europe (I guess), so it’s a no go for me.

    Still, I miss:
    - Wireless N support
    - The looks of the N1 (I hate the back of the phone)

The rest is amazing. What touchscreen does it carry? Clearpad 2000?

I hope we will start seeing more of those front facing cameras in new Android devices. This will eventually enable some nice tricks such as videophone conferencing etc.

i’d go back to sprint for this puppy! could someone elaborate on how to scroll this device? no trackball, optical joystick or scroll pad in sight!

I will be leaving Verizon and Droid for this phone for sure. Not that I don’t like Verizon, but if I can save a little monthly AND have this beast, it’s a no brainer.

Hey folks…may somebody here knows if and when the HTC EVO 4G will come 2 Europe??? I saw this beautifull Mobilephone and fell in love with it :-)
So pls give me some infos…

Nice greetings the new HTC EVO FAN!!!! :D:DD

    • http://www.digiweb.co.uk/ DL101

There is one 4G network based in UK, FRANCE, IRELAND AND ITALY that would support the EVO’s technology. I will await the news on whether this company is smart enought to back HTC to overtake iPhone…

      • http://ecofitonline.com Kitvb1

AFAIK, this phone handles 4G and 3G – so it should work in (backward) Germany.

  • http://Website KS

So, this phone looks great, but I’m wondering about two things:

    1. Sprint? Why not Verizon? I would never go to Sprint
    2. How about battery life? It’s nice to have all these features on a phone but the same problem holds with the Nokia N900…battery doesn’t last. I guess when people don’t declare it in the specs it means there will be a problem with that as in most new multimedia phones…

    • http://Website Gabi

What’s wrong with Sprint? Good coverage! Cheap prices! F’n awesome to me!

  • http://Website jb

The battery is a big concern, 1500mh, that is really small. Palm pre is 1250 and battery dies after just one hour of WiFi “hotspot” tethering. Not to mention the super power snapdragon and big screen running all the applications. Oh well, I may have to buy after market battery with a modified back plate to accomodate the bigger battery. Why can’t HTC just make a slightly bigger phone to accomodate us power business users. address user concerns and eliminate the problems, don’t skirt the issue (are you listening HTC?). PLEASE, don’t OBAMA us and ignor the public’s concerns?

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  • http://www.kacaudah.com Shaun Criscione

Hi there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you
