Rumor: T-Mobile to offer pay per use data plans for hearing impaired

TmoNews has received a tip that T-Mobile will soon offer new data plans for their hearing impaired customers. We have called the carrier out on this issue before and recently graded them a F on carrier friendliness for the disabled.

The new program is being referred to internally as “Even More 1.5″ and will allow hearing impaired customers to purchase unlimited data-only plans or pay per use plans.

No pricing information is available on the unlimited plans, but they normally go for $29 when added to a calling plan. The pay per use web plan will go for the low price of $1.99 per MB. Customers will be notified via text message when they reach $10 worth of charges and it sounds like there will be a monthly max of $50 (so you don’t accidentally go over).

T-Mobile appears to be listening to customer feedback and we applaud them for offering more choices to the hearing impaired.

More details are expected “Mid-March” so it might be a few weeks before we have an official confirmation.
