Thank you, Mr. Stanley. I don't understand why every time some jerk with to much time on there hands throws out some bs rumor, everyone gets excited. Anyone can type words on a computer and post a snapshot of it. And the rep's you talk to on the phone, don't know jack about anything. The one lady I spoke to didn't even know that the Moment had GPS on it, much less that it didn't work. Sprint has said that when they have a release date they will post it on there website. Anyone seen this yet? No! If Sprint is to stick to it's word on the release time frame, we have until mid May to see our Android 2.1 update. Granted it is taking a very long time to get the update released, but making up stories about it isn't helping anyone.

Sprint is working faster than Verizon. Here's Verizon's response to my own inquiry. VZW rep told me it would be available in a month after I bought my Droid Eris (end of Jan).

Sorry for a long post but it gives me a little laugh. A spelling error or two and a bad form letter format.

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless. I apologize for the issues you've encountered with the operation of your device. As a reflection of my commitment to provide the best customer service possible, I have outlined below, a possible solution to your problem.

The manufacturer, HTC, has not officially released any software update. One of the main reasons for NOT releasing 2.1 is that there are still issues that need to be addressed. There is some info and blogs on the web that states (for some users not all) that apparently 2.1 is missing features, wiping out all the Google Apps and also clearing your SD card of the apps and data you downloaded and saved.

Rooting your device will void your warrantee!!!

3rd party software download

Please be advised, there are inherent dangers in the use of any software available for download on the Internet. Verizon Wireless makes no representations as to the stability or accuracy of any third party applications nor does Verizon Wireless infringe on the rights of any third party providers. Verizon Wireless has not developed this software and is in no way responsible for the use of the software and any damage done to your operating system. You are solely responsible for adequate protection and backup of the data and your equipment.

Tips For Prolonging The Life Of Your Battery

Your phone is like a small computer, giving you a lot of information and apps, at 3G speed. There are many factors involved when we talk about battery life. Like......

Signal strength - where are you located? How many bars of signal are displayed on your device? Is it 1XEV, 1X?

Data being used (not necessarily voice usage) - multiple email accounts? Alot of emails? Picture messaging? Recording and/or viewing videos?

Voice usage - On the phone alot? Long or short calls?

Charging - Multiple times during the day (home charging, charging at office, charging in car)?

WHERE the phone is being used - If you have a weak or low signal, your phone is working harder to pull in and keep a good signal and to do that it requires MORE battery power.

Depending on what and how you use your device, that can take alot of power. So, if you want to save battery life between charges, you can:

Turn off Bluetooth and WiFi to conserve battery life when not in use.

Set your backlight to the minimum time.

Set any sync apps (if installed, like Google sync) to manual rather than auto

A new Lithium-ion battery will benefit from an initial "conditioning" of the battery. For the first 3 charge cycles, fully charge the battery overnight and allow it to fully discharge before recharging. Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs from nickel-based batteries.)

To achieve a true full charge when rapid charging, the battery needs to be slow charged the last 10-15% of its charge cycle. Lithium-ion batteries require a charger specifically designed to charge Lithium batteries. Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot car. A Lithium-ion battery may be damaged by extensive overcharging (continuously on a charger for more than 24 hours).

I apologize if you were "promised" something that Verizon Wireless could not deliver. Software updates cannot be released without extensive testing. If you are experiencing problems with your device, please contact us from a landline phone at 800-922-0204.

Note to Sprint: Most of the new apps and upgrades that are making the headlines and generating excitement run either 1.6+ or 2.x. Being stuck with Android 1.5 is starting to feel about as cool and sexy as having a DOS PC.
