Are you in the market for an incredibly wacky form factor running an outdated version of Android underneath a custom user interface that’s had Google search stripped out? Then you’re in luck.
The Motorola Backflip went on sale through the AT&T website and represents the first glimpse of Android for the carrier. The device is running Android 1.5 but you’d be hard pressed to notice that on the AT&T product page. In fact it doesn’t even say which version it’s running:
Sometimes you guys think we give certain phones too hard a time but we think a unified front is going to be a key factor in the success of Android. So decisions like these (dated OS, custom UI, no Google) really fail to get me excited about a device.
That being said, any of our users purchase or planning to pick up one of these phones? Any readers AT&T customers that were just waiting for an Android device to buy?
