HTC Desire landing on U.S. Cellular in July

Someone is excited to be launching their first Android device. U.S. Cellular announced last week they would be selling the HTC Desire and now they shared a release time frame. Potential customers should circle July if they are interested in picking up the phone.

We initially thought the HTC Desire might land on more U.S. carriers, but that has not been the case so far. U.S. Cellular runs a CDMA network, but I don’t think we will see the Desire on the other large CDMA carriers like Sprint or Verizon. However, I have a feeling Cellular South might pick up some more Android phones and the Desire would be a nice addition to their lineup.

Hungry for more Android info? How about a peek at some specs for the gorgeous HTC Desire including a 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen display, 5 MP camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, Android Market and an 8 GB microSD card. How about news of a launch date around July? We’ll need to make sure our rigorous testing is complete before you can get your hands on this sweet phone. Stay tuned here for more exclusive Android updates!U.S. Cellularvia Facebook

I really like the design of Desire. It is more feminine than Incredible. Dunno if I can get it now, though

Last time I saw US Cellular listed as 6th largest carrier, according to wiki they’re actually 7th, behind metro pcs. Explains why ive never heard of them I guess

Hopefully Tmobile “the 3rd largest” comes out with an “in-store” handset as nice as the Desire before U.S Cellular does. If not that is just embarrassing for Tmo.

      100% AGREE!

IF TMO DOES NOT RELEASE ANYTHING COMPARABLE TO THE DESIRE IN STORE AND AVAILABLE TO ALL CUSTOMERS( not like the nexus one which is only online and only to single line customers) THEN I AM GOING TO PAY ETF AND GO TO SPRINT AND THE EVO

will the US Cellular HTC Desire unlocked work on AT&T

    • Kyle Lippard

That was the hope that I had when I clicked this link. I at least thought ” Let me see if this is GSM. Becuase (if it is) surely AT&T is releasing it and hasn’t announced it yet. But it says that this phone is CDMA and would not work on ATT. Now I’m not sure if it would work for this phone, but I’ve heard of CDMA devices being unlocked and moved to dif carriers. Or maybe Verizon isn’t announcing until after the Incredible’s gone through it’s initial first run sales. ;) here’s hoping the Desire is a Beautiful handset.

I really don’t think a phone for US Cellular will work with AT&T because US Cellular doesn’t use a SIM card. I’m a US Cellular customer, and there’s absolutely no place for a SIM.

      • http://Website Mike

No it will not work. Us Cellular uses CDMA just like Verizon and Sprint and AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. Unlocked phones will only work on other carriers as long as the other carrier uses the same cell technology.

I am a US Cellular customer and also a ex Sales Represenetive and I have a
BlackBerry Tour … Us Cellular uses a CDMA true! However my phone also has a
SIM card slot as well… Its advertised as a world phone and can use both networks
When I first left USCC I disconnected my phone and activated an old iwireless
(T-Mobile) sim card and just put it in my blackberry and used my phone with them
But I did switch back to us cellular… Tmobile verizon sprint all pretty much suck around here
So I’m Very happy to hear were getting this phone! As to the question about it working on att
I don’t know it might have the same potential as my blackberry does… Hope I answered ur question…
