Skyfire alternative browser seeks alpha testers

Skyfire might not be as well known as Firefox or Opera, but the alternative browser is one of the most popular (and praised) available for Windows Mobile. The company recently set their sights on Android when they acquired Kolbysoft, makers of the popular Steel browser.

Michael Kolb (founder of Kolbysoft) was named as the chief client architect for all of Skyfire’s browsers across operating systems in order to speed up their Android effort and it looks like he has delivered. In a company blog post, Skyfire announced they are ready to begin their Android alpha program and are looking for testers.

If you would like to participate in the alpha testing of Skyfire for Android, head over to their blog and fill out an application. Slots are limited, so sign up now if you are interested.

They want your IMEI Number? Why exactly?

I’m guessing so they can tie the apk to your phone so you can’t leak it(without getting caught).

I’m very new to the technology world. I purchaced an android g1 phone so all my friends would finally leave me alone about getting up to date, its overwelming with all the different things you can do on this phone. I won’t let any one finger around with my phone due to the high cost I paid for it. When it comes to computers I know how to turn them off and on and pretty much that’s it. So my cell is like a mini computer and I know nothing, so I use the help button quite often you see, the help button would be great if I knew even knew half the stuff I read, I need a major help icon for the really out of date people like my self, I love all the diff stuff I can use, find, and playwith but if you guys could send me a few apps that would possibly help me better, I thank you

I don’t like this browser – I tried it on my touch diamond but it was laughably inferior to the Opera one which comes with it. They also had this thing where you had to use the app to register online for the forum or something, but it never worked and I just went around in circles. I deleted it after 5 mins. Perhaps it’s better now.
My IMEI number? No, mind your own business. Besides, it someone registered their number then leaked it and Skyfire came after me and asked what I was doing I’d just delete the email, deny it or tell them to **** off or whatever – what are they going to do about it?

Well they said it is for diversity, So that not all the testers are for example, American and using the droid, The IMEI Number, I have no idea I questioned them on this.

I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
