I have been harsh in the past when talking about some mid-range Android phones, but LG has done everything right for their first U.S. launch. The LG Ally comes with the latest Android 2.1, a full QWERTY keyboard, the ability to toggle between LG’s custom home screen and the stock Android, and it does all this for the low price of $99 with 2 year contract ($369 off contract).
Not everyone needs a high-end Snapdragon device, and the LG Ally is the perfect Android phone for beginners. Verizon has a pretty strong track record of supporting their Android phones with regular over the air updates, so we expect the Ally will eventually get Android 2.2 when it’s released.
