T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide gets rooted, just like all HTC phones

Less than a week ago, we brought you news that the Verizon DROID Incredible had finally been rooted.  Now, the myTouch 3G Slide is joining the list of rooted HTC handsets.  T-Mobile’s soft launch of the myTouch 3G Slide kicked off about a week and a half ago.  The handset can’t even be purchased at most T-Mobile retail locations until this weekend, but that didn’t stop HTC’s passionate customers from finding a loophole in the software build to gain super user access to the root directory.  For now, rooting the myTouch 3G Slide consists of a ten step process put together by eugene373 on XDA-Developers.

As always, you might have to wait a little in order to take full advantage if you are not a developer. The ROM cooks are starting to get busy, most likely cooking up a few different ROM variations for the myTouch 3G Slide (maybe even a few without HTC Sense).  Rooting your phone is always a tricky process and could damage your phone beyond repair.  It might make sense to wait a little before rooting to see if anyone report any issues with the process and keep in mind that T-Mobile’s Froyo update for the Slide could be right around the corner.
