New Google Maps updates place pages, transit schedules, and Latitude integration

Google Maps is the most used application on my Android phone and it continues to improve with every release. The latest update brings the version to 4.3 and includes improvements to the place pages, transit station pages with schedules, and suggest friends to add to Latitude.

I’ve been playing around with the latest version and I find the new place page updates to be the most useful. Users can easily get an overview of a restaurant from search results page and see what people are saying about the place. This is a great feature for travelers and it makes it even easier to find a great place to eat.

The transit schedules also look pretty useful and I plan to try them out next time I travel out of state. For a complete list of cities that are covered, check out the Google Transit page.

Get the latest version of Maps by scanning the above QR code, searching for Google Maps in Android Market, or if you’re reading this on your phone just tap here. Version 4.3 is available for Android 1.6+ phones in all the countries and languages where Maps is currently available.

New features of Google Maps 4.3 include:

  • See ratings for aspects about a place such as service or atmosphere
  • Transit station pages show next departures
  • Latitude suggests friends
