SCVNGR gets another update, bringing four new awesome features

Yes, yes, I know exactly what you’re thinking; Anthony has a love affair with SCVNGR. True, it’s no secret that I think SCVNGR is one of the most innovative and fun check in service around today, and I think you should try it out for yourself. I’m not going to go into the details here, but you can certainly check out our review if you need more information on SCVNGR itself.

One of the best things about SCVNGR is that it continues to get better, and at a much faster rate than the more mainstream check-in services. Just under a month ago, SCVNGR introduced the social check-in, where you can check-into locations with friends by bumping phones together. Just two weeks ago, SCVNGR partnered with Journey’s to bring real-life rewards and discounts.

Last week, the innovation continued with the introduction of four new features based on feedback from SCVNGR users. SCVNGR now offers:

  • Build on SCVNGR! Now instead of just playing SCVGNR, you can build on SCVGNR- right form their phone. Create fun challenges at your favorite places in less than 20 seconds.
  • Add captions to the pics you snap! Give more to you friends context when you share pics on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Find friends easier and faster! The new friend suggestion feature suggests friends for you on SCVNGR using your Facebook and Twitter connections, and also people that you’ve done the social check-in with recently.
  • Track your favorite places …even better! SCVNGR now uses your/your friends past history to show you better place result-decreasing the fail rate on location selection from 40% to 22%. A huge improvement that’s going to get even better!

Though all of the above mentioned features add tremendous value to SCVNGR, the addition of user-created challenges has tremendous amounts of potential, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what others around me can create as fun and unique new ways to experience the world around me. I am also looking forward to being able to share challenges with those around me who are using SCVNGR’s service.

SCVNGR is available for free on the Android market for android 2.1 and above. I highly encourage you to try out SCVNGR if you haven’t already heeded my advice in the many articles I’ve written about SCVNGR. In my humble opinion, SCVNGR has the most potential of any of the check-in applications, and also can be the most fun.
