Google Voice updated, adds two widgets

Just days after the leaked Google Voice application from Tmobile’s upcoming G2 phone, Google Voice received an official update in the Android Market. The updated application brings two new homescreen widgets.

The Google Voice Inbox Widget allows you to view your Google Voice voicemail and text messages right from your homescreen without needing to launch the application.

The Settings Widget allows you to quickly launch the Google Voice application, compose a new text message, change your Google Voice dialing preferences, and immediately put you into “Do Not Disturb” mode so that all your Google Voice calls will go straight to voicemail.

You’ll also be able to see your credit balance at the bottom of the widget.

Widgets are one of the main things that make Android stand out against its competitors, and the Google Voice widgets are both handy and very well done. We encourage you to head over to the market and update your Google Voice application to the latest version.

As always, let us know what you think about the update in the comments.

The widgets are awesome. I picked the wrong option when voice came out and kept my old number. Can I change that now?

If I recall correctly, Google charges $10 to change it.

That is my main complaint. They should have made the 4 wide or even 2 x 2. Bad design, but they work great…

Hello, Neat post. There’s a problem together with your website in web explorer, could test this? IE still is the marketplace leader and a huge component of people will pass over your magnificent writing due to this problem.
