You may remember back in May when we told you about Twitoc, a widget developed by Mobicartel that allows you to update your Twitter status using only your voice. There is no twitter feed to filter through, no having to tap the tweet button and then the voice search key; with Twitoc, just click the microphone on the widget and start talking.
Earlier this week, Twitoc was updated to version 2.0.1, adding support for plug-ins that expand what you can do with Twitoc. Alongside this update, Mobicartel has released its first plugin, the Twitoc camera plug-in. The camera plug-in allows users to quickly and easily update their Twitter status with a picture in just a few clicks. Simply hit the camera button on the widget, snap a photo, add an optional caption using your voice, and update your status. The whole process takes under 10 seconds from start to finish, and is a handy way to share photos with your Twitter friends.
Now, there is a catch. Having the ability to quickly take and upload photos to your Twitter timeline will cost you $0.99. Though not necessarily a dealbreaker, I think a lot of you are going to have a hard time shelling out $1 to save 5-10 seconds. For less than a cup of coffee, you can easily snap and caption photos in the blink of an eye for as long as you own an Android phone. I know there have been many times where I’ve wanted to snap a quick photo and upload it to my Twitter timeline without having to open up the Twitter application. Now, I can do that.
But I don’t want you to take my word for it; I want you to decide for yourself. Russell Holly from The Droid Guy posted a cool video demonstrating just what the Twitoc camera plug-in can do for you. Watch the video and judge for yourself.
Twitoc (free), and Twitoc Camera Plug-in ($0.99) are available for all Android 2.1+ devices in the market. Just search for “Twitoc” in the market, and both the main app and the plug-in should show up. Otherwise, hit the QR code above for the main app link.
