New Androids on sale: T-Mobile myTouch 4G, Comet, Optimus T

Today T-Mobile launched three new Android smartphones that go from entry-level all the way up to high-end. Even though some of the phones are being offered for free on contract, they all ship with the latest Android 2.2 (thanks!). Details, pricing info, and a shiny video after the jump.

It is nice to see T-Mobile launch three Android 2.2 phones on the same day. They are all great phones, but I would suggest the myTouch 4G as my top pick. Those looking for a lower-priced transitional phone should go for the LG Optimus T (which can be had for free if you order from T-Mobile.com). Don’t forget that T-Mobile just launched new data plans, so you can now use a smartphone for only $10 per month (200 MB limit on data).

HTC myTouch 4G: $199 on contract, $449 suggested retail price. Comes in multiple color options including black, plum, red, and white. This is the fastest HTC phone available, using Qualcomm’s new second-gen 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU with the Adreno 205 GPU. It also supports T-Mobile’s 4G network with speeds up to 14.4 Mbps.

Huawei Comet: FREE on contract, $199 suggested retail price. Highlights include stock Android 2.2, 2.8 inch QVGA display, 528 MHz processor, and 3.2 megapixel camera. This is a really solid Android 2.2 phone, but I would suggest something else which features a larger display.

LG Optimus T: $29.99 on contract, $239 suggest retail price. Highlights include Android 2.2, 3.2 inch HVGA display, 600 MHz CPU, 3 megapixel camera, and FM radio. This might be my favorite new pick for a low-priced Android phone. Hands-on report coming soon.

For some really great deals on a new phone, check out the Android and Me phone store. Our prices for phones on contract are cheaper than the carriers. If you are buying your phone off-contract, at full retail price, then go with your carrier’s online store.

The Motorola Defy is also now available on T-Mobile for $99 on contract, but it runs the outdated Android 2.1 and I can’t suggest it to anyone purchasing a new Android phone.

Lolol.. I don’t understand how they get the very lowest end android phones but they also get (imo) the very best, top of the line phones. (I.e. G1, Nexus One, and G2)

As someone put it, T-Mobile is trying to be the Target of wireless carriers. They want to offer smartphones for free all the way up to $199. And now they have a lower tiered data plan to attract new smartphone customers.

I got the comet! I love it, it’s very small and has 2.2 installed! I can play lots of 3d games that run good. I bought it because I don’t want contract and with android installed and at a low price it was a deal!
