Samsung set to unveil new 7-inch Super AMOLED display in 2011

It’s pretty safe to say that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be the best Android tablet option between now and the end of the year.  Yes, the price point is a bit high, but we have come across another good reason why you might wait for the next generation of the Galaxy Tab.  Samsung has just announced that they will debut their new 7-inch Super AMOLED display in two weeks at the FPD-International exhibit.

The new Super AMOLED display will feature a 1200 x 600 pixel resolution, making it slightly wider than the 1024 x 600 resolution display found on the Galaxy Tab.  Samsung Mobile Display is expecting to have the new 7-inch Super AMOLED display in full production by mid-2011.

There’s currently no hard evidence that Samsung will be using the new display on the next generation of the Galaxy Tab, but we would be pretty shocked if it didn’t turn out that way.  Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology allows for cheaper displays with brighter and saturated colors with higher refresh rates.  While all that may sound great, the main draw of the technology is that it uses significantly less power that traditional AMOLED which allows mobile devices to last longer on a single battery charge.
