Google’s Dan Morrill has come out and debunked one of the latest rumors regarding Android 3.0. That’s right, Android 3.0 will not feature a minimum hardware requirement. Rumors have been floating around that Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) would require a dual-core processor, leaving several older Android tablets (namely the Samsung Tab) out in the cold.

The news comes from Dan Morrill’s Twitter account which states: ”#dejavu Random note: there’s no hard minimum processor requirement for Honeycomb. Trust me, if there were I’d know.” While the dual-core processor requirement rumors seemed plausible, we never really believed it much since Android is an open platform and anyone would be able to take it and install the OS on any hardware they wanted. Sure, Android 3.0 may run a lot better on a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, but that doesn’t mean your Hummingbird-powered Galaxy Tab will not have a smooth ride once loaded up with Honeycomb.
