First image leaks of the LG Optimus 3D?

Our friend Rob Jackson of Phandroid has received an image of what he believes to be the LG Optimus 3D, a device we just learned of last week and one that is expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress next month.

The device features a display larger than 4-inches and looks like a combination of LG’s Optimus 2X and Motorola’s Droid X. LG just announced a 4.3 inch WVGA (480×800 pixel resolution) glasses-free 3D display at CES, so that could be the part that gets used in this rumored 3D phone.

Rob’s tipster also revealed that the phone has a dual-core processor, but we do not know which one yet. LG went with NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 for the Optimus 2X, but we have already heard that the Optimus 3D is not a Tegra device. It is more likely that the Optimus 3D could feature Qualcomm’s dual-core Snapdragon or Texas Instruments’ OMAP4430.

LG recently teased that their MWC press event would bring us “into the new dimension”, so many believe they are working on 3D devices. Recent comments from company executives have also helped to keep the 3D buzz going.

“With our key understanding of displays, entertainment and mobile technology, LG is looking forward to debuting this exciting new way to watch 3D movies or play games on your mobile phone,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “LG sees tremendous growth potential in the 3D mobile display market.”

Whatever happens, I just got a little more excited to attend LG’s press event on February 14th. What do you think they have up their sleeves?

Are we sure that’s not just a Droid X with an LG logo on top?

Guess everyone knows what I am waiting on.. But this looks great L.G is becoming a player to be reckoned with as they move forward in the mobile industry.. Hopefully this will come to sprint along with there announced HTC product on February 7th. I am waiting patiently everyone should look closely at LG and what they are doing they appear to be coming real strong with there Optimus 2X and now this device. HTC has to come real strong with that dualcore snapdragon and they should do it on the Evo 2 4g as there first device… guess we have to wait on that one that may be announced at CTIA… LG looking real good I am happy to be seeing that

This looks pretty sweet to be honest. It’s hard to tell in the blurry picture how well the 3d display is. Looks to be stock as well. Gingerbread would be better. They have nothing else better to do lol.

That notification bar looks exactly the same as the one on my Optimus 2X review unit.

Hey Taylor do you see the sim card icon on the notification bar? I believe that makes it a GSM phone right?

I really hope this is coming to Sprint alongside the new HTC I’m getting frustrated watching all these providers release new phones leaving Sprint behind. Don’t get me wrong I love my evo but I think its time for a change.
