T-Mobile announces all smartphones are free this Valentine’s weekend

Today T-Mobile announced a “Valentine’s offer to fall in love with.” Every smartphone will be offered for free with a qualifying plan on two-year contract. This deal covers every Android phone including some of our favorites like the HTC myTouch 4G, HTC G2, LG Optimus T, and Samsung Vibrant. The sale is aimed at attracting new customers, but existing T-Mobilers can take advantage of the special offer by upgrading their contract or adding a line.

This limited time offer will only be available Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12, so visit T-Mobile’s official site or your local store for more information.

“Smartphones offer people incredible flexibility to stay connected and express their love to the people that matter most,” said John Clelland, senior vice president of marketing, T-Mobile USA. “T-Mobile’s Valentine’s promotion makes it easier for anyone to get their favorite smartphone and keep connected on America’s largest 4G network.”

Data plans for T-Mobile’s smartphones start at just $10 per month (200 MB), so this might be the perfect opportunity to get your first Android phone for those of you on a tight budget.

T-Mobile also announced that they have partnered with TV personality Khloé Kardashian to “spread the word about how using smartphones is the best way to keep in touch with loved ones and tell them how you feel about them.” For a special Valentine’s video starring Khloé, visit T-Mobile’s YouTube and Facebook page on Wednesday, February 9.

From T-Mobile’s site: T-Mobile has a Valentine’s offer to fall in love with. On February 11 and February 12, all T-Mobile phones, even the fastest 4G smartphones running on America’s largest 4G network, will be offered for free at T-Mobile retail stores with qualifying plan on two-year contract. To celebrate, T-Mobile has teamed up with best-selling author and TV personality Khloé Kardashian to spread the word about how using smartphones is the best way to keep in touch with loved ones and tell them how you feel about them. Check back on Feb. 9 for another special Valentine’s video starring Khloé.

You say “T-Mobile announces all smartphones are free this Valentine’s weekend” I hear “MWC is just days away! Can you wait?” Yes I can.

    • http://Website Anonymous

And if people are smart, they will steer clear of the Samsung Vibrant (1st Gen/OG).

  • http://Website Dennis

Awwwww…..that’s bogus. I just got my G2 a fortnight ago. FML.

    • http://Website Dennis

Thanks for the response. However, I renewed my contract with the G2 so I don’t think I may qualify for this SWEET offer. :/

      • http://Website joe

You do qualify for a return, even if you signed a contract.

Last spring, when I purchased the Cliq, I returned it a few days later due to problems with the head phone jack. They gave me a refund and they undid my contract extension, without them even asking me why I was returning it. I came back a few days later after thinking what phone I wanted, and they had no problems selling me the Cliq again.

  • http://Website shmeki

Does this include the nexus s on T-Mobile(best buy)?

    • http://Website Nathan

nope, only phones sold in t-mobile stores.

  • http://Website Reggie

Why’d they have to use Frankenstein to ruin such a sweet offer?

    • http://Website KAMALA

  • http://Website DirectMatrix

    Two things:

    1) I’m ashamed that I have defended T-Mo in the past and stuck with them through thick and thin and then they use this disgusting moose to pitch their offer. When I think Valentine’s Day, Khloe “whore-bag” Kardashian is the absolute furthest thing from what I’m thinking.

    2) There is no such thing as the “HTC myTouch 4G” or the “HTC G2″….they are the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and the T-Mobile G2.

    • http://Website @neidlinger

Actually if you want to be correct it’s the HTC Glacier and the HTC Vision.

    • http://Website Dev1359

      1) Calm down bro.

      2) Considering they’re manufactured by HTC, I don’t really see what’s wrong with T-Mobile referring to them as HTC phones. Not really something to get your panties all in a bunch over.

      • http://Website @ezdankie

        1) Agreed

        2) Disagree, DirectMatrix and @neidlinger are correct…..@neidlinger being more correct. You, however, are wrong because its not T-Mobile referring to them HTC phones, its the author of this article. I don’t know if HTC and T-Mo have some special deal but HTC’s name is never in the name of the product when its released on T-mo. The HTC Dream became the T-Mobile G1, the HTC Vision became the T-mobile G2 etc etc.

        • http://Website @neidlinger

          my end point is this.

they referred to them HTC MyTouch4G, and the HTC G2. Direct Matrix referred to them the T-Mobile MyTouch4G and the T-Mobile G2. And i called them by their trade names.

is it [either] pronounced (e-thur) (i-thur)…. is the SAME word with the SAME meaning. Just like the Phone are the same regardless of what you call them.

and for the record Print ads call the G2 the HTC G2.

          • http://Website Dev1359

Exactly, it’s the same damn phone whether you brand “HTC” or “T-Mobile” on it. If it’s manufactured by HTC, then I see no harm in branding it with the HTC name…especially in ads where the consumer might actually want to know who made the phone.

    • http://Website A B

Dude, HTC manufactures the My touch Phones

  • http://Website metafor

Can I get the myTouch girl for free?

    • http://Website Drake Paulsen

      Hell, Ill pay..

  • http://Website Levi

Hmmm. I really could use an unlocked Cyanogen Mod-ed G2. Will they just give me the phone for the ETF price? :) How would I go about hooking this up at minimum cost? Does the T-mob USA G2 have 2100 3G freq?

  • http://Website geophf

Ugh! Couldn’t they have used Kim. >.<

  • http://Website lancaster09

This offer would have been amazing if the Optimus 2X was out for TMo…. by the way where is the announcement for the 2X coming to TMo?!?!?!

  • http://Website David

I really want to take advantage of this. I have the original Mytouch and the update has made it so slow and pretty laggy. I was hoping something would come up that I didn’t have to pay so much for a new phone since I am a college student with just enough to cover my monthly bills.

So my question is, which is the better quality phone with the best specs, Mytouch 4G, Vibrant or G2?

I really want a great phone that can last me for a few months until I am able to buy a better phone later (July)

    • http://Website dj

I’d go with G2 if u must. Because vibrant wont be updated and its on that nasty touchwiz lay over.f Of eclair(2.1) where as G2 is on Froyo(2.2) and has a huge chance of being the 3rd or 4th 5th phone to get the 2.3 update. The. MYTOUCH4G is ok just a few small design failures hardware wise and it has the HTC sense slapped on it which greatly slows down the chanceof it getting 2.3 which itprobably wont see till July if lucky.

      • http://Website Matthew R

Actually once the Mytouch 4g is rooted (which is a fairly simple process) you can run CM7 which is a a surprisingly stable 2.3

        • http://Website Jeocentric

How do i root my MT4G like yours. email me if you can.

      • http://Website J.Lizard

Ah…. the Vibrant has been upgradable to Froyo since Jan. 21st via Samsung Kies Mini for PC. It has transformed the Vibrant into what it should have been. Faster, more responsive with much smoother transitions. Less memory consumption. Not to mention Flash 10.1, bonus! Yes it is a first gen. model(so what)and yes T-mo/Samsung didn’t get the OTA out quicker and bug free the first go round, but they made things right. Definitely a sweet piece of PC in the pocket.

Been running speed tests on my Droid X on Verizon’s “3G” and have yet to hit over 500kbps down. Once Verizon’s iPhone has a full release on Thursday I can just imagine what my speeds will be. This is why I will be switching to a Nexus S tomorrow and getting my wife a free MyTouch 4G on Friday. Seems like TMo felt my pain :)

    • jjl84

Oh, and just a month ago I would at least hit 1200kbps down and a year ago I’d get at least 2000kbps down, just for a comparison. Avoid Verizon like the plague…

  • http://Website DaveC

I’m tempted. I have a family plan with five lines and we could all use new phones (although I’m fine with my Nexus One). The kicker is that I’m on an EvenMorePlus plan. It might be a push financially for the two years I’d be committed, but not beyond that. Plus there is the potential for some amazing phones coming in the near future. So tempted…but I’ll probably pass.

  • http://Website Michaelinaz

You gotta be effing kidding me. Lol. I just upgraded 3 weeks ago with some crappy phones(Optimus T and Comet) because they were free. Damnit!

  • http://Website KAMALA

“best-selling author and TV personality Khloé Kardashian” WTF!
    Best selling author of what?
Jesus H she looks like she belongs on stage with GWAR!

  • Uncemister

Actually this sale started today. My fiance and I were able to do a free upgrade to the cliq2 for both of us and we just extended our contracts recently.

  • http://Website Rev. Spaminator

Free G2.. is it worth it? Should I wait for the next cool phone (w/ keyboard) to come along? How soon till it is obsolete? Decisions, decisions!

  • http://Website Matthew

It should be noted, that you must buy the phone upfront and then you get your money back via a mail in rebate. Bought two G2s last night.
