LG says, “3D. It’s better for real!”

As we count down the days till Mobile World Congress, some companies are being completely silent about their announcements (HTC) while others are spilling all the beans. LG has certainly given us more material than anyone and they are back today with a new video promoting the Optimus 3D.

We are still waiting to learn the full list of specs for the Optimus 3D, but rumors suggest it features a 4.3 inch glasses-free 3D display, dual-lens camera capable of recording 3D video, and a dual-core 1 GHz OMAP4430 processor.

The latest teaser informs us that 3D can be used for more than blockbuster movies. “For one thing, you could get a live, personal yoga lesson.” Check out the clip below and let us know what you think. Is 3D better for reals?

From LG: 3D is great for watching blockbuster films, right? Right. But 3D is not just for the big screen. In fact, 3D can be extremely useful in daily life! For one thing, you could get a live, personal yoga lesson. Don’t believe us? Take a look at Kay in this video and see how she does it the LG Optimus 3D way!

Wow… that was the cheesiest ad I’ve ever seen…

I wish 3D would just go away already. Are there really people out there that enjoy 3D?

in the theater it can be fun, i recently saw tron legacy, narnia, and green hornet all in 3d and i loved it.

i’ve also seen some football games in 3d on ESPN 3d and that looked amazing.

but yeah basically 3d is just a gimmick, but i don’t think it’s a gimmick thats going to go away.

as far as it on the mobile devices, not worth it unless it’s glasses free IMO.

to be honest, i’m looking forward to hopefully seeing this device in real life, but as far as actually buying/using one, i kinda doubt it.

The 3D effect will be nice i’m sure, but it will also probably destroy your battery. on the nitendo 3DS it loses about 40-50% of it’s battery life when the 3d is on. 3-5 hours verses 7-10 when not on 3d.

“Sometiems when I’m excercising, I get confused and wish the yoga video was in 3D on my phone. ”

I think I’m the wrong market for this video…

    Smh at that ad.

I remember Nintendo saying 3D and touch screens don’t work well together. Smudges and scratches tend to ruin the 3D effect.

  • Angie Strickland

    Haha! So cheesy.

would have been nice if we could actually see what 3d looks like on the phone.

    • http://Website NT

Well it won’t look like that video that’s for sure!

Glasses-less 3D doesn’t “come out” of the screen, it “goes into” the screen.

3D a cheap gimmick just to sell more of these handsets. The novelty will wear off. Job on LG, won’t be getting my money.

A lot of people said that this time last year about Front Facing Cameras. Now look at them a phone doesn’t even have decent specs without one. I don’t always agree with trends but I think 3D is here to stay.

This has to be one of the worst smartphone commercials ever.

    “Simulated screen images”

This is 3D folks, basically a cheesy optical illusion, not holo-technology.

3D won’t show you any new angles for Yoga, because any perceived angles are illusions.

I’m not saying I hate the idea of 3D but it won’t make my decision about getting a phone.

Maybe if I was a noob.

    Forget 3D I’m waiting for 4D
