Reserve your Kyocera Echo for the April 17th launch

The launch of the Kyocera Echo is scheduled for April 17th, but if you want to make sure you can get your hands on the dual-screen Android handset you might want to reserve your unit now for $199 after a $100 instant discount and new two year contract! Along with the pre-order tool, Sprint has just launched their mini site for the Kyrocera Echo which shows off some of the handset’s dual-screen features. Even if you didn’t have plans on purchasing the Echo, you might want to check out the Bottle Bustin’ Bandits game or register to win one of five Kyrocera Echo’s they’re giving away in Sprint’s Duel for a Dual Sweepstakes. We know very few of you are actually interested in the Echo since it’s running on an extremely outdated processor and features two gimmicky low resolution displays, but it’s a completely different story if you get one for free.

This is just the first bit of evidence that Sprint will go under in the future.

I can’t believe this P.O.S. phone had its own separate event, considering that even the Evo 3D, one of the best phones of 2011, was announced at a tech show instead.

I hope u r fine after yesterday drink, Nick. Gundelschame barrel cucumbers’ liquid is the best to cure morning sickness, Russians say, they know better…I also recommend it. LOL.
First, it’s not outdated processor, it’s not dual core, true, bot stilll this is decent second gen Snapdragon. And of course, the WVGA x2 960×800 total on combined 4.7″ screen resolution is not gimmicky even for the totally drunk.
Do u mix it with something ?

I feel sorry for anyone who buys this phone. Get a phone with duel core processors instead and you will be much more satisfied with your purchase.

Albeit this isn’t the worst phone in the world, but why would they announce the evolution 3d before launching this?

  • http://Website gracie

Its all about the EVO 3D that’s gona be my next phone.

This isn’t something I would buy considering the fact that I’m a huge Android supporter and keep up with as much as I can in reference to it, but its a great idea honestly speaking if the specs were better as far as the processor, screen quality, and a few other things it would be a great device for people who want the best of both mobile and tablet. You guys have to look at it from a different angle remember its the first of its kind.

  • Uncemister

People are actually going to buy this? lol anything kyocera has been a budget phone.

What’s amusing about this device is that it would probably be more successful as a single screen model. They’d probably end up doing better with a single 3.7 – 4.3″ sized device than this dual screen crap. Is Sprint trying to take marketing and product ideas from Nintendo or something? The EVO was a great device when it was released. Why does it seem like their 2011 line-up thus far is just gimmicky devices? A dual screen phone, an EVO with 3D as its shining feature, and, by the time its released, a 5 month old phone that was already tech spec-wise 5 months behind, now simply with Wimax added to it (referring to the Sprint Nexus S). Granted, the phone at least has impressive specs to back things up… I just hope that doesn’t mean Sprint will try to justify a higher price tag for this.

    • http://Website Velhym

Err, that last sentence was referring to the EVO 3D*

Definitely concerned that Sprint will price the phone higher because of the added 3D functionality.

I will actually be buying this phone – a choice made after long deliberation. After reviewing several videos on youtube it appeared surprisingly usable, with less lag than I had initially expected. The dual screens are actually somewhat interesting to me, and I think that WVGA is a high enough resolution for screens that are only 3.5″ diagonal each. I would, of course, prefer a dual-core processor, but its current one can more than handle my needs. Though it has long been a dream of mine to be running 1080p videos in mkv containers on a phone, realistically I know that it is unlikely I would ever put more than probably 1 or 2 such videos onto any cell phone within a year. Considering the above and the fact that any other new phone will feel the same as my current one – due to the candy bar form factor typical of the great majority of phones these days – besides running slightly smoother, I came to the final conclusion that it’s worth a try.

I do agree that the phone did not deserve its own separate event, however, it does deserve its fair shake.

…Also I wish it didn’t have that chrome dominating the front.

And I don’t know why I typed all of this up as either no one cares or would just like to flame me :3

We can flame this phone to all ends, but if there are some apps made specifically for this type of device I don’t think it will be the last of it’s kind. This will appeal to a niche market in the beginning , but could actually turn into an interesting innovation. Especially if they could minimize the seperation between the screens. That being said, when can we have the EVO 3d?!

What!!! I thought that this was a joke! They’re really going to sell this thing? I still think it’s an elaborate hoax… “I mean, c’mon” (In the voice of Jimmy from South Park).
