HBO GO now available, stream away!

If you recall, last week we reported that HBO would release HBO GO for Android, iOS, and laptops, and if you have been waiting for this new service, today is your lucky day. HBO GO is now available in the Android Market and the service is free of charge for HBO subscribers (As Sean mentioned, you can’t purchase the service standalone). There are exceptions though, this service needs at least a 3G connection, and it is only available for U.S. customers subscribed to participating T.V. Providers (AT&T U-Verse, Comcast, Cox, DIRECTV, Suddenlink, Charter, DISH, and Verizon FIOS).

With the New HBO GO App You Can:

  • Keep up with your favorites. Watch everything you love about HBO, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, comedy and every episode of the best HBO shows, including True Blood®, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire®, Entourage®, The Sopranos®, Curb Your Enthusiasm®, Sex and the City®, The Wire® and more. Plus, get bonus features and special behind-the-scenes extras!
  • Take it with you. Get instant access to HBO GO whenever you want, wherever you are–and never miss a moment of your favorite HBO shows.
  • Make it your own. Create a customized Watchlist to catch up on all your favorite HBO shows and hit movies at your convenience. Plus, set a Series Pass® to automatically load your list with all the HBO Original Series you love.
  • Enjoy more HBO. Get even more of your favorite HBO programming with HBO GO–FREE with your HBO subscription through participating television providers.

Home Box Office Inc.

There are some issues (and lack of compatibility) with certain devices, and sadly that includes Honeycomb tablets, but let’s hope that HBO gets working on this, so more people can enjoy HBO on the go. Are you guys excited about HBO GO? If you get a chance to use it, let us know your impressions on it, and check out HBO’s videos below!

I was really excited for this since. I already subscribe to HBO but once I download it I can’t use it because fucking Time Warner Cable is not supported! Not to mention the file is GIGANTIC, at over 13MB its easily the largest app on my phone and space is already at a premium on my N1…

I can’t believe in the age we are of mobile HD videos, super fast processors, 3D capabilites that users have to worry about two things, memory and battery. Manufacturers need to step it up.

So it won’t work on wifi?

    • Edgar Cervantes

Yes, it does work on WiFi, since WiFi connections tend to be faster than 3G data speeds.

Downloaded and working flawlessly over wifi on my Fascinate with a Cox login. I haven’t tested 3G yet because I’m in hole in Verizon’s network and on a network extender. I was pleasantly surprised to find some movies to stream free in addition to HBO content. I am sad to hear that it doesn’t work on Honeycomb :-( my Eee Pad Transformer is supposed to arrive this coming week.
