Sprint and T-Mobile get ready to announce some new devices in the coming days

Both Sprint and T-Mobile are getting things ready to announce some new devices in the coming days. Sprint just sent out an invitation for a press event tomorrow at 11:30 am Pacific time, where they’ll most likely announce the Samsung Replenish. The environment-friendly device will feature a QWERTY-keyboard, a 2.8-inch QVGA display, camera, and Wi-Fi. The phone is made out of recycled materials, for those of you that are into that kind of thing.

On T-Mobile’ side, the company will have a little get-together Wednesday of next week at 7PM to announce the Honeycomb-packing G-Slate and LG’s dual-core beast, the T-Mobile G2X.  That’s a lot of devices coming down the pike, so make sure you to keep tuned to Android and Me for more info.

Jealousy will get you nowhere. Just played with a G2X and it is the most amazing phone that I have ever held. Build quality was excellent too. Makes the Thunderbolt feel like a G1. Got a 2520 on Quadrant, 39 on Linpack and 72.6 on Neocore.

    Waste of time.

Carriers are releasing these mediocre phones and holding back the release of amazing phones like the Samsung Galaxy s2.

G2X has half the RAM, a slower dual core processor, and less storage capacity than the S2 AND is on a carrier that is willing to sell it’s soul to ATT the most Anti-Android Carrier.

The second the S2 launches on Vz or Sprint I am gone.

Anyone who buys these new Tmobile phones is throwing away cash.

    • http://Website Oreo

The rams is 512 but its is ddr2 better than most of the 1 gigs and the atrix has 1 Gb but its still locked to only us on the webtop. The G2x is a Quad-band phone that is easy to root and already has a large amount of roms out for it and to the addition of stock Android on already they earned my money. Sorry so sloppy. People like you just grind my gears.

    • http://Website jampac

Tegra 2 slower? Yea ok. Stop hating on phones you don’t want and thinking others will be dumb for purchasing them, G2X is a beast of a phone and T-Mobile is still better than both carriers you mentioned. Besides no one wants any Samsung products anyway, enjoy the problems that’s gonna come along with your phone as we all know there will be plenty. Men lie women lie history doesn’t!!!!

Speak for yourself. I’m waiting for the SGS2. ;) It can go toe to toe with the best of this year’s dual cores. :)

great hardware can only be just as good as its software that utilizes it. have fun with touchwiz and slow updates

          • http://Website Hans

And from what I’ve seen of TouchWiz 4.0, it doesn’t hinder the phone at all. And your “TouchWiz delays updates” argument is moot. Even vanilla stock android phones are taking a long time to update. ;D

    • http://Website Shane

You do realize this is the U.S. version of the first ever dual core phone right ? I would hardly call that mediocre.

    • http://Website zedklind

looks like we have a fanboy.. its sad to see this honestly.. ur not worried about future os updates? i mean yeah.. they eventually pushed them out on the galaxy s but they weren’t even ota.. and you needed a WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM to update.. it might be a great device but with a screen that big you aren’t worried about battery drain? we cant compare real world experiences until both of these have been out and thoroughly reviewed. I’m not regretting preordering the g2x for even a second.. When the largest development team for android custom roms has 3+people purchasing the g2x/optimus2x i know i will always have nightly updates and amazing customization to make my phone FULLY mine. no one wants touchwiz anyways.. stock with unlocked/unsigned bootloaders with amazing hardware ftw

No, a waste of time (and money) is buying a Samsung (particularly Galaxy-S). Good luck getting Samsung to update your ROM. The blatant disrespect they showed everyone who purchased one of their high-end devices by not upgrading (to 2.2, mind you) until the beginning of this year made me hate Samsung with a passion, and I didn’t even buy one of their phones. Thanks, but no thanks. G2x is going to beat the S out of the Galaxy S and already has Gingerbread rumored to be coming this summer.

    • http://Website Eric

Yeah….get your S2 when it comes out loaded with TouchzGiz and GPS that will take you in circles while you grow old waiting for an update. Been there, done that.

Serious question: why is T-mobile announcing devices that could be obsolete within the year? AT&T uses a different network and they plan on converting T-mobile towers to that network. Doesn’t make sense to me.

    • http://Website Shane

So far the new phones coming out since the announcement of the possible buy out have release with bands capable of working on the AT&T network. They would just need an update and be good to go.

Im going on a limb and guessing your mind is to clouded. The G2x is future-proof it has At&t bands set for there 3G. Now shoo!!! While I enjoy my brand new device.

I still take G2X over Galaxy S2. Stock Android and Tegra 2 = insane speed. It’s faster than anything out there right now.

        • http://Website UniqueNate

You can’t go wrong with the G2X but faster then anything out there? It’s fast but the SGSII is by itself in this dual core game. If it had stock, it would be the best handset for a very long time. Even with it’s skin it is slippery smooth. Sammy didn’t even have to pump it up to 1.2ghz. The fact that the G2X is stock is the hype around it. Still you can’t go wrong with either one. I believe some manufacturers failed with Tegra 2. Hear me out. Tegra 2 did not fail but the manufacturers(some) failed using it. Atrix was not living to its hype. Design was lame and the webtop dock thing. They have apps in the market that do that for free. I figured Moto thought Tegra 2 could simply revamp Blur. No chemistry. Anyways, you can’t go wrong with the G2X or SGSII.

Now, I know the G-Tablet will be cool and all but has anyone checked out the Blackberry Tab. It really wow in functionality. I love Android but overall for a Tablet it does it all.
