T-Mobile bets you $1,000 that the Galaxy S 4G is faster than your iPhone

T-Mobile really wants you to know that its 4G network is the fastest one out there. In fact, the carrier is willing to give you a cool 1,000 bucks if you can prove them otherwise. That’s confidence right there. During this weekend, you can bring your iPhone to a T-Mobile store in the Seattle area and have it compete against a Galaxy S 4G. If your iPhone wins –very unlikely — T-Mobile will give you $1,000. If the Galaxy S 4G wins, T-Mobile will be kind enough to give you $300 to trade in your iPhone for a Galaxy S 4G — how nice of them.

If you live in the Seattle area and are feeling a bitĀ adventurousĀ this weekend, you can follow this link for participating stores’ location. We wonder how long T-Mobile will keep up this marketing tactics now that AT&T is buying the company.

    • Alberto Vildosola

I’m guessing a $300 credit for your iPhone that you can use to buy the Galaxy S 4G.

Quick XDA, hack an LTE radio into an iPhone 4. Jk,jk. Seems kinda rigged to me though. Only in one city (magenta’s hq btw) and only in select stores. I’m a proud Vibrant owner but I don’t like to see my carrier playing fast and loose with money it could be using to save itself from the Death Star.

You really think this is costing them money? Do you know how marketing works?

lol, that is confidence, to bad it’s only Seattle. AT&T and Verizon would smoke T-Mobile in South Florida in most cities except maybe Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach. They only rolled out HSPA+ to the ‘major cities’ and didn’t even do the cities/towns in-between. It’s so stupid. And my signal and/or internet cuts out all the time vs my ATT Phone. I love my G2 but can’t stand T-Mobile where I live.

Also, if my Vibrant can beat it in a Quadrant score, can I get a voucher towards a free Sensation 4G?

T-Mobile does realize that the iPhone is a 3G device while the Galaxy S 4G is a 4G device? of course the Galaxy is going to win. apples to oranges, T-Mo.

Apple to oranges for those of that understand the difference between 3G and 4G. It’s actually a good marketing ploy, for once, by TMobile. Especially since the 4G speeds in Seattle are pretty amazing. Hell, even the HSPA+ speeds on 3G phones are amazing in Seattle.

You also realize that att…is boasting how there 3g service is faster than 4g…so u wanna play with the big boys….sit at the table!

$1000 that samsung copied the iPhone with touchwiz:)

@Bpear… I’m so glad you’re not my lawyer. You don’t know the facts at all. You’d lose the case and I’d be stuck for all damages.

Samsung did not copy Apple with Touchwiz. Samsung has been using that almost identical interface since 2007, before the iPhoney came out. Here’s a link to a site showing you the Samsung F700 from Feb 2007. While the icons are now better and more colorful, you can distinctly see the “Touchwiz” design on their menu-ing system from 2007. And see as how this is being shown in Feb, 2007, the interface was from designs that Samsung came up with in 2006, before the iPhoney. I rest my case.

IPHONE 4 runs on 3G network not 4G network, I WISH THEY WOULD CHALLENGE AT&T 4G.

    • http://Website bpear

yea but standard 3g phones can reach 7.2 mb on hspa+ which is pretty much the max att goes anyways

    • AME

This is a good time for them to learn that an iPhone 4 doesn’t mean 4G. For some reason, that’s hard for many people to understand.

Iphone sucks in every way… Except battery life..ya but it doesn’t got widgets and customization…

    • AME

They don’t even have battery life anymore… my G2x is crushing it past 12 hours. I’m at 15 hours right now because I haven’t done too much and I still have 10% left.

Now all the iPhone has is that it is white. Not many phones can say they are white. Congratulations, iPhone!

i want my phone black..black like Oprah and the president (not racist)

I had a Galaxy S… for about two weeks. Great phone, I won’t lie, I loved it, but I upgraded, and I bet $1000 my G2x is faster than your Galaxy S.

Galaxy S4G vs the iphone 4 on 3G? Thats like a Porche vs a Kia. It doesn’t take a contest to know who will win. The Galaxy wouldn’t just beat the iphone on internet speeds, but also overall phone performance. And yes, I know its not really a fair to compare a phone thats almost a year old. But… like i tell all my apple loving friends….. their iphone is almost an antique in cell phone terms already. Get off your high horse. haha
