T-Mobile finally releases the myTouch 3G Slide’s Froyo update

T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide owners can finally breathe a sigh of relief.  T-Mobile and HTC have put the finally touches on the handset’s Froyo update and have made it available to the public.  The Android 2.2.1 update introduces a handful of new features to the myTouch 3G Slide and should also improve the handset’s stability and performance.  Unlike most other Android updates, myTouch 3G Slide owners will not be receiving an OTA notification to download the update.  Instead, users will need to download and install the Android 2.2.1 build via a PC.

Below is a list of some of the new features and enhancements that come along with the Froyo update for the myTouch 3G Slide.  For instructions on how to install the update on your handset, we suggest heading over to HTC’s myTouch 3G Slide product page and follow their detailed step-by-step guide.

myTouch 3G Slide Froyo Enhancements

  • Android 2.2 (Froyo)
  • Wi-Fi calling
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • USB Tethering (Internet Sharing)
  • Low storage (User Data) notification mechanism
  • Resolves issues with text and picture messaging
  • Resolves some existing Bluetooth compatibility issues
  • Improves compatibility with new Bluetooth devices
  • Improves stability and reliability of the device
  • Other various minor bug fixes

Congratulations, great job on being extremely slow to post this article.

The 2.2 update was released two entire days ago, this is pathetic that this website is this slow.

You could always find another site if this one doesn’t do it for you.

Then I’d suggest you hurry on over there, you might miss something while you’re over here wasting everyone else’s time.

Don’t do it. This update for the Mytouch3g made my phone extremely sluggish. The improvements aren’t worth the lack of performance.

The myTouch 3G and 3G Slide are two completely different phones. The myTouch 3G Slide features a faster processor, more memory, and it much better suited for Android 2.2 than the original myTouch.

The main reason the myTouch 3G update to Froyo isn’t ideal is due to the handset’s low internal memory. Updating the myTouch 3G Slide should improve performance and 30-40 percent based on what we’ve seen on other HTC handsets which have received the update.

    @breyes
You also need to download another file which would be the updating file.
You only have one of the two files needed. you’ll find out everything you need on the official site.

Oh, come on, 2.2.1!? By now, they should have released AT LEAST 2.2.2! There are important security updates involved here!
