Gameloft finally releases N.O.V.A. 2 Near Orbit Alliance HD for Android

All gamers out there probably know about Gameloft, being one of the best game developers for mobile devices. Though their work is amazing, Android users tend to pull away from this company mainly due to the complications with purchasing the games (which are not offered in the Android Market). Distribution issues aside, the games themselves are great and we have been waiting for N.O.V.A. 2 Near Orbit Alliance HD since last year.

Today, N.O.V.A. 2 has finally launched for Android devices, though notably not on the Android Market alongside Modern Combat 2 (which Sean reported on earlier).

As expected, the game is available for $4.99 only through Gameloft’s website, as well as their WAP site. In this case, even though you do have to go through Gameloft’s oft-bemoaned purchasing process, the game may very well be worth that added complication (I know it is for me).

Do you mind purchasing Gameloft games straight from their website? Are you heading over to purchase N.O.V.A. 2 HD? If you’re still on the fence, you may want to check out the press release and screenshots of the game below, as well as the commercial that Gameloft has put together for us.

I don’t like that I can not download this game for any future phone that I may get. When I purchase a game, I want to own it completely. Until Gameloft releases their games to the Android Market, they won’t have any business from me.

Any Android user would do well to stay away from these hacks. I purchased three Gameloft games on my old G2, it got defective, got a new one. Downloaded all my Android apps from the market all over. Went to the Gameloft website, found out I have to buy them all over again. Why this website keeps promoting them is beyond me…

It’s not their policy but many have been able to move to new devices you just have to email or call them. I have moved twice.

Even on the Market after downloading this beast you’ll have passed your 15 min refund window… I wonder if they can get a deal everyone is happy with from Amazon App Store or the like?

Just upgraded to a G2x from a Vibrant and lost Spider-man Mayhem, Let’s Golf 2, and Asphalt 5 in the process since they won’t let me re-download the same games I paid for. Until they change their ways I will not be purchasing anything else from them, and can’t suggest that anyone else does.

As far as I’m concerned, if it ain’t in the market, it doesn’t exist. Plus I trade up phones a lot and don’t think I should have to keep buying the same game. Should I buy a new dvd or game if I upgrade to a new tv?

Gameloft’s games look great, but until I have assurance that I will be able to keep games I have purchased when I upgrade my phone or tablet, I won’t be buying anything from them. While the Android Market would be ideal, I would also be willing to buy via the Amazon Appstore, or even a (hypothetical) “Gameloft Store App” that tied games to my Gameloft account.

    Hello,

I can’t understand why there are so many games to Motorola Milestone A853 compared to Milestone 2 A953.

I’m very frustrated, tired, sad and angry with the additional contents download of Gameloft’s games because it’s so painful to restart the Wi-Fi connection each time the one locks on the Milestone 2 A953.

What’s the root cause for this issue, please?

    Regards.

I purchased upgrades to NOVA about a month ago, to play it via facebook, using FB credits. They’ve now announced they’re killing it on Aug 31, and there’s no mention of refunds.

The game has critical flaws: invisible players, no autokick of high ping players (who lag the server out for all of the other players) and very limited “social” elements. I reviewed the game on FB as a 2 star (out of 5) game and was contacted by their “outreach” person, who told me tech support would be in touch to follow up on my comments.

    I never heard from anyone.

I will never buy anything from GameLoft ever again, for any device.
