Motorola DROID 3 makes an appearance in leaked Verizon tutorial videos

If your Sunday is not very exciting, here is some news that might cheer some Verizon users up. Big Red has the habit of uploading tutorial videos for their new devices, and it seems that the tutorials for the Motorola Droid 3 have slipped out of their hands today. PhonePads has gotten a hold of 3 tutorial videos for the Droid 3, and all of them look to be official (from Verizon).

No official information has been given about this device, but it has shown up from time to time through leaks, and even some benchmark reports recently. Rumored specs include a 1 GHz OMAP 4430 CPU, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 4-inch qHD display, and two cameras (rear and front).

We have been predicting the arrival of the Droid 3 to be sometime in the beginning of Q3. More details are starting to appear, giving us more hope of this device coming sooner rather than later. With the appearance of last month’s benchmarks, and todays leaked videos, we know that the new addition to the Droid family must be almost ready, and official announcement should be coming anytime soon.

It is still impossible to pick up the full specifications of the Motorola Droid 3 through these videos, but we do get a few details – The 5-row physical slide-out keyboard is still present along with HDMI out, and carries an 8 MP rear-facing camera (1080p recording). Get ready for a little bit of Sunday drooling, and check out the tutorial videos below.

Looks nice. I’ll buy it if the Milestone’s Boot loader is unlocked. ;)

Guess you won’t be buying it then.

I think this bad phone is obsolete, the EVO puts this droid to shame!

Wow Richard, you still cease to amaze me by how much of a douche bag you are.

Moto really needs to bring back stock Android to this series. It would easily be the best Android device with a keyboard if that was done.

    • http://Website RD

Agreed. Any manufacturer that just goes with stock Android will sell like hotcakes. I was hoping LG would go that route, but of course they had to go their own way again. I am having issues with my Droid 2 due to crappy build quality and buggy Motorola software.

No LTE? So it will be out of date when it is released? Fail. Thanks for killing the Motorola Droid brand.

    • http://Website NotRelevent

Actually you have the Charge to thank for that. And the Droid 2 before it.

What is up with the fact that there is once again no front facing camera, its as if verizon wont let anyone especialy motorola put a ffc on a non 4g device. Video chat is going to explode in the next year or so, why would u buy a phone that lacks the ability to do that. pretttttty frustrating

    • http://Website Jaymonster

Did you not read the story or watch the videos? It DOES have a front facing camera!

    FAIL

    • http://Website snowbdr89

i wasnt aware ucla pumped out such idiots!! no hspa = win win no matter if its only 3g an who really gives a rats ass about dual core besides nerds or trekkies who cant stay away from dungeons n dragons on their phone…

    • http://Website c.koch

it is dual core jackass and hspa+ is at&t and tmobile and seeing how this is verizon well that says enough. Not to mention not everyone is in a 4g area and needs the battery drain. This will sell very well I am sure as long as their are no issues from the beginning.

Wow! really? TI’s OMAP4 is dual core and can run up to 1ghz. So lets kill that noise.
http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wtbu/wtbuproductcontent.tsp?contentId=53243&navigationId=12843&templateId=6123 Although no 4G is a big let down. I like that they went back to the look of the OG Droid. Loving the all black but didn’t see the normal speaker grill on the back unless that’s all black and I didn’t notice.

    • http://Website NotRelevent

No 4G is only a let down if you like 4hr battery life.

I’ve been waiting for the Droid3, but now I’m thinking Samsung Galaxy S2. The Droid3 needed to come out a few months ago to be a super phone.

  • http://Website st4xor

My (last) new-every-two is up in July, so it will likely come down between this phone and the SGS II (whenever it comes out) on Verizon. It is looking unlikely that either phone will have 4G, so that point of contention will probably be moot. This thing won’t be a total barn burner, but i’ve absolutely loved my OG Droid since release day, and its been doing damn fine with CM7 as of late.

My decision will probably come down to which device is more likely to have future Cyanogen support (looks like the tables are tipping in favor of the SGS II) and whether or not I can live without that gorgeous 5-row keyboard

    Decisions, decisions…

this is not such a wonderful stuff. But may be competitive with similar stuff in market.

The video is a tutorial to show Droid 3 owners how to use their new smartphones, but as you can see, it’s made clear that this is not the final version of its software. The video must have been released “accidentally on purpose,” or else we wouldn’t be able to watch it right now.

The battery of my iPhone hasn’t been affected at all by the 1ghz processor it has, and the dual core one sure hasn’t affected my ipad2 at all.
