Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S II “Within” passes through the FCC

Still looking for some sort of sign that the Galaxy S II is close to hitting US shores? Look no further than the FCC filing for the Samsung SPH-D710–Sprint’s very own Galaxy S II variant, the Samsung Within.

Along with CDMA and WiMax radios, the SPH-D710 comes with what looks to be a slightly different camera configuration than that of the original Galaxy S II, as well as a bigger body. (5mm taller and 3mm wider to be exact). Don’t let the camera placement scare you into thinking the D710 isn’t the Within, it lines up perfectly with some recently leaked photos that were rumored to be Sprint’s Galaxy S II.

As the Galaxy S II has just reached over five million units sold internationally, it’s about time the US finally got their piece of the pie. It may not be an official announcement, but an FCC filing always means good things are on their way shortly. What do you think? Will Sprint, AT&T and Verizon all release their Galaxy S II variants at the same time? Or is this a good sign for Sprint users only? Let us know in the comments below.

That’s a pretty huge size change. now i guess it starts to make sense if they were trying to shoehorn CDMA and wimax that it would take so long. i bet they went through some iterations at the original size before admitting that they needed to grow the handset. obviously nobody would like to do that.

It doesnt bother me since im on verizon but hey i hope all carriers are blessed with this device. I hope they havent changed the form factor to much. As for if it is a good sign well yeah in the sense that it is coming but just because it passes thru the FCC doesnt really mean that its coming too terribly soon. its coming but its still unknown despite passing thru the FCC

Here’s hoping to it coming out next month! Not too crazy about the size change but at least it’ll still be thinner than my Samsung Epic. I’m still not sure if I should hold out for the Nexus Prime

Samsung has been all over the place. I honestly think they’re doing a good job.

Can us T-Mobile customers hear some good news about this phone also..I mean, i know the Hercules is coming, but if the release date is really in September, idk if i can hold out for another month, i really hope the release date for it gets bumped to next month.

This will be a great addition to the already great stable of dualcore monsters on sprint. I must say it’s an industry leading lineup EVO3D,PHOTON4G,SAMSUNG WITHIN4G, and the upcoming HTC HERO4G not bad at all, Funny part is we are not even including the Iphone 5 later in late September/October that also will be arriving on the UNLIMITED NETWORK. This is definately a great time to be part of the best carrier in the US….

You never cease to amaze me with your utter stupidity, blind ignorance, and complete hypocrisy. You, who have always said how all of Apple’s product’s are “useless” and “pieces of sh*t” and yet here you are saying the iPhone 5 will be a “great” addition to the “UNLIMITED NETWORK”. (Which, by the way, is wrong. It’s the “Now network”. A “Sprint fanboy” should know this.) You can’t make heads or tails of your own words, so take my advice and shut up you stupid little hypocrite. Not only that, but it has pretty much been proven that the Hero 4G will not be dual CORE but dual MODE (GSM/CDMA). And before you start ranting about how I should “mind my own business”, maybe you should remember that you’re the idiot who went around to Phandroid and other websites posting links to you’re “review” to “bait” me. Well, moron, it worked. Have a nice day!

Geez. Settle down. What? Do you own stock in AT$T or Verizon? You’re going to have a heart attack.
