V-Cast Videos evolves into Verizon Videos; 250 shows for $10/month

verizon-video-android

V-Cast Video was a good service, but it needed a boost in order to gain some major popularity. Verizon has not only decided to expand its TV Show repertoire to 250 shows, but to rename the whole shebang: Verizon Video.

You may have noticed this update roll out on your device lately, replacing good ol’ V-Cast Video. This update is quite the improvement, as it brings shows from TV networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN and many others. The user also gets a fair share of sports, with access to NFL’s Red Zone, NBC’s Sunday Night Football and the NFL Netowork.

All this comes with a price tag of $10 a month or $3 for one day (if you want to try it). The price isn’t bad at all if you are a constant user, but other services (like Netflix) offer similar/better services for about the same price. If you’re really into TV shows and sports, though, this app will definitely make your day much more enjoyable.

If the update hasn’t rolled out to your device, simply grab it from the Android Market (for select devices). What do you guys think? Is it a big improvement? Would you rather use Netflix? Maybe both? Let us know what you think.

Wow I cannot for a second justifying even considering it with netflix out there. I mean Crackle is free on your phone.. Not to mention HBOGO ,Maxgo, etc

This is garbage! It doesnt work over wi-fi and it causes you to eat into your puny 2GB monthly cap. This is just Verizon trying to charge for an app that will cause you to go over your data limit each month so they can charge you $10/GB for more data.

Yeah, I didn’t really like the fact that it is 3G/4G only. It would be better for the grandfather unlimited data folks, and but if you are on a tiered data plan, and it can really get to your bill…

I couldn’t imagine using something other than Netflix. The fact that I can start a show on my television, not watch it all; Then I am able to start it right where I left off on my phone is amazing. All for a cheaper price than this Vcast. Plus Vcast is made to eat data…no go.

Sounds like a great service. On Sprint we roll big time with content on our devices. Sprint TV is a great find but with that as well as Netflix, Crackel, and TV.com the choices is endless as far as entertainment. I really enjoy the options. 10dollars is a great price.

Verizon just does not get it…Netflix (which streams great on 3g) is $7.00 a month and has thousands of movies and TV shows.
