HTC Holiday specs and pictures surface after prototype is sold on Craigslist

htc_holiday_group

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the HTC Holiday, but I guess good things come to those who wait.  An eagle-eyed Craigslist shopped recently picked up an unusual listing that turned out to be an unlocked and unbranded HTC Holiday, which should be launching on AT&T this fall.   The phone features a massive 4.5-inch qHD display, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 8 MP and 1.3 MP cameras, 1 GB of RAM, all it’s running Android 2.3.4.

As you can tell from the pictures, the 4.5-inch screen is pretty damaged, but the current owner is taking offers from those interested in it.  Would any of you be willing to shell out some serious cash for a phone that hasn’t yet been announced by AT&T and HTC?

It’s certainly no coincidence that HTC is looking to saturate the market with dual-core phones right when Samsung’s Galaxy S II is about to hit the U.S. market.  Is the HTC Holiday and it’s 4.5-inch qHD display good enough to compete with Samsung’s dual-core phones?

Verizon is getting a phone similar to this. It’s codenamed the HTC Vigor.

      • AceoStar

You thinking all three will come early q3?

Verizon is getting the Samsung Galaxy S II, which is better than this phone.

I currently own the Evo 3D and I can honestly say, DO NOT buy any of HTC’s bluetooth 3.0 phones. HTC is not using the latest BlueZ Bluetooh 3.0 stack for Linux and therefore, it is not backwards compatible with Bluetooth 2.x devices or cars.

My car stopped being able to phonebook sync to my phone. Whereas with my old Evo 4G, everything was working just fine.

The Galaxy S II has been released in Asia and Europe for months and is using the most current BlueZ version to work with cars that don’t have Bluetooth 3.0 from the factory.

If your only concern is bluetooth compatibility? This phone has been quoted as “backwards compatible”. I wouldn’t touch the Samsung again unless they have drastically changed the touchwiz overlay… Owned the galaxy s…won’t again.

The lower half of the back seems to be a huge speaker 0_0 HTC including beats tech?

    Craigslist has everything apparently. :p

Not sure if I like the look of the phone, though the specs are appealing…

Looks better then all the other look a like HTC phones to me. It’ll be a nice phone I’m sure but it’s just another phone in comparison to the Evo 3D and Sensation. AT&T will get this and call it their own and Verizon will get the Vigor and call it their own. From the rumors it sounds like the Vigor is higher in specs but if it comes with the also rumored sense 3.5, then I’m sure this and the Evo 3D will get bumped up.

Rumored 3.5? What kind of changes are we talking about?

  • inviolable

The prototype was sold on craigslist? lol what the hell

  • mwaterous

That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen from HTC. You could finally put a Motorola next to something and say, “Hey, that Motorola looks pretty nice.”

I was thinking the same exact thing. Since it’s a prototype, I’m sure the final product will look a little better. This will be the first time that AT&T will be getting a phone specifically manufactured for them. All the other HTC devices they have carried were U.S. exclusives but have also been available in Europe and Asia.

I guess i’ll have to talk about the elephant in the room. HOW THE HELL did this guy already crack the screen of this phone?!?!

on the other end, its an interesting style for htc to go with. And is that a 4.5 16:9 screen?

    • rasterX

I’ll bet this was a field test unit that wasn’t disposed of properly, or someone got lucky during a dumpster dive.

I hope the backside perforations do indicate a large speaker driver, anything bigger than the tiny speaker in the Sensation/EVO would be a big improvement.

I think the shiny black area with the embossed label is just a rubber bumper (hopefully, not too keen on the two-tone scheme of the Sensation either). If you look at the second shot, it does seem like the earpiece slot is half-obscured.

Not sure what the three-pin “connector” in back, lower-right is for. Any ideas?

Looks like some pins for a charging dock.

    Too damn big!!

    • comandantecee

      Agreed too damn big!
Might as well get a tablet if your phone is going to be almost 5 freaking inches..

  • BiGMERF

Saw the cracked screen and ut broke my heart…

This offers a Great chance for At&t to have a great HTC device they don’t have any at all in my book. Every carrier will have there version of a 3D EVO just without the 3d to each’s own. I have stated before and will state again next year’s EVO BRAND will see some serious major specs and if people look around at the unreleased devices coming to tmo HTC RUBY, verizon HTC VIGOR and this HTC HOLIDAY people will start to see 4.5 to 4.7 inch screens pop up devices with 1.5 Ghz dualcore processors with 1GB of RAM and 16gb of internal storage which htc is not know for. Take all of this and imagine what next year’s 2012 EVO BRAND WILL BE LIKE…

is the cracked screen a telltale sign of what happens when a phone with a giant screen hangout in your pockets? definitely not for skinny jean wearers lol

  • issac4760

Does not look that good. the name is horrible… “what kinda phone do u have?” “Uhh the holiday” lol
