Logitech releases “Tablet Mouse” for Honeycomb tablets

Logitech Tablet Mouse

Are you looking for a fancy new wireless mouse to go with your Honeycomb tablet? Logitech just released their Tablet Mouse for $49.99, which they claim is the “first-ever mouse made for Android tablets.” While the mouse doesn’t have any real Android-specific features, it can scroll up AND down. Similar bluetooth mice might sell for half the price and work just the same (Logitech offers this mouse minus the Android branding for $39), but the Tablet Mouse is probably the only one to say Android on it’s packaging.

Additional highlights of the Tablet Mouse include:

  • Works smart: Cursor control for your tablet? Oh yes. Now it’s easier than ever to get stuff done, especially when you’re using an external keyboard.
  • Scrolls up, scrolls down: The power is in your hand. You can scroll up and down through web pages or long documents without reaching for the touch screen.
  • Smooth moves: Laser precision means you’ll enjoy smoother tracking on just about any surface.
  • Speaks tablet: The mouse pairs easily with your Android tablet over Bluetooth wireless. Use it anywhere within 30 feet of your tablet.
  • Safe travels: Use the stylish pouch to protect your mouse when you’re on the move–from home to the office, and back again.

I bought one from china on ebay for 10 bucks…. While it may seem to be cool to get one “specifically” made for Honeycomb (whatever that means), I am just to price conscious and to smart a shopper to fall for that. Just my Opinion

But this one scrolls up AND down.

Not really buddy.. Thanks for the productive post though..

It scrolls up AND down? No way! With this new dimension of mouse the possibilities are limitless!

What great and wonderful technology will be released next I wonder? Side scrolling? Impossible!

    Maybe… maybe… the long click!

    • anon

Actually, it looks like this one does side scrolling too! Look at those arrows to the left and right of the scrollwheel. Mind blowing!!11

Its not a bad marketing ploy for average customers. Before I started getting into tech, if it did not have my device on the package I would not even try to buy it.

and my much more powerful laptop also includes a keyboard along with a touchpad and my wireless mouse :)

Android is green, a nice shade of green.

Why would anyone want to make an Android peripheral such an ugly arse shade of blue?

Why isn’t it black with subtle green highlights and an Andy icon? Stupid.

    • Taylor Wimberly

I think they went with blue for bluetooth, but yeah this def should have been a shade of green.

      • BiGMERF

just drop a lil androidb sticker om it :-)

    • WickedToby741

Its a mouse designed for Honeycomb tablets. There’s a lot of blue elements in Honeycomb, so I imagine they went with a sort of Tron-blue for that reason and not Android-green.

Or, more likely, it’s just a clone of the existing Logitech V740 mobile BT mouse ( that I’ve been using with my notebook for years now. Exact same color; I doubt it has anything to do with Android or Honeycomb.

You’d need to have massive hands to use that!

The generic Logitech M555b bluetooth mouse works just as well… out of the box. So does my Freedom Pro foldable bluetooth keyboard… and, even more exotic, my Logitech Freedom 2.4 joystick works as well (moving the stick is like hitting arrow keys, moving right to left or up to down the icon or area to select, and the trigger button acts as a “select”) but that one is plugged into the USB port of my Acer A500 Android tab… :D

Who the hell wants to use their tablet from 30 feet away???

    • WickedToby741

Maybe someone who has their tablet hooked up to their flatscreen TV and is using the mouse to browse from the comfort of their couch?

    • codesplice

Of course, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a BT device that ACTUALLY works from the specified 30-foot distance.

It’s possible to scroll up AND down?
No way Logitech could bring this feauture to a mouse, because Apple had a patent for that 1000000000 Years ago XD

To set things straight (only because I’m sick of people giving Apple credit for this) Xerox developed the 1st mouse/icon interface back at the then Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research center) way before Apple.
see – – but there’s a lot more history on this out there as well. Apple just did the usual-took somebody else’s idea and marketed it as their own. Like nobody ever called a program an ‘App’ as slang before the App Store (LOL). Leave it up to Apple to try to trademark a slang term.
I don’t know about anyone else but I’m sick of Apple stuff taking up all the display space in electronics stores and would love to see something else for a change.

As to a use for an Android mouse – Think Smartphone or Tablet hooked to a TV or large monitor via a short HDMI cable and you’re sitting a few feet away navigating while watching said display. A wireless mouse is great for this, It is a bit spendy, but Logitech may have an App bundled with the mouse the had development costs.

I have had one of these for about a month or so and I do not use it much on my Xoom. There is nothing wrong with the mouse at all, I just had an experiment I wanted to try with Splashtop HD in an attempt play games with a bt mouse/keyboard on the tablet, streamed from a pc. It did not go as planned :D. Since on a normal desktop machine the mouse moves the entire ‘screen’ once you’re in game, but on android moving the mouse around is like holding your finger above the screen but never touching it so it doesn’t work as planned. Long story but it is a nice mouse!

I’ll just not waste my money, I don’t need this my friend bought one when we went to the store and I tried his and I’m not impressed in the slightest. Oh and I’ve never heard of a mouse scrolling up AND down is this some new feature?
