Verizon fans were shocked this week to learn they might be missing out on the Samsung Galaxy S II. But there’s no shortage of flagship Android devices coming out in the next couple months. The Motorola Droid Bionic is rumored to hit stores September 8, and we’re expecting the HTC Vigor around October 8. Hardware geeks have been drooling over the rumored Vigor specs for awhile, but they didn’t know what it looked like until today. Droid guru Kellen of Droid-Life just posted some pictures of the HTC Vigor, which appears to be a test unit. He notes that the black and red color scheme matches up with Verizon’s Droid branding, and the Vigor could be marketed as the Droid Incredible HD when it hits stores.
Rumored specs of the HTC Vigor include:
- Android 2.3.4 with Sense UI 3.5
- 4.3-inch 1280×720 HD display
- 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor
- 1GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage
- 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera
- Beats Audio
- Verizon 4G LTE
We have already seen the dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor in other Android phones running at 1.2 GHz, but this should be the fastest Snapdragon S3 yet at 1.5 GHz. It looks like 720 HD displays are becoming the norm for high-end Android phones in Q4, but none have been released. The Vigor could be the first.
Now Verizon fans looking for a high-end Android phone face a tough decision. Do they go with the Droid Bionic in September, wait for the HTC Vigor in October, or cross their fingers and hope the Nexus 3 makes an appearance by December?
